Henry County is rocked today with word
that its long-time sheriff faces
federal charges.

The sheriff and a dozen of his deputies
were indicted this week in a
racketeering conspiracy, along with
seven other people.

ALLEGES THAT SEVERAL OF THE DEFENDANTS
STOLE SEIZED FIREARMS AND OTHER
CONTRABAND FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL USE.

to pursue investigations. by tipping
off suspects and lying to state and
federal investigators. He's also
charged in a money-laundering scheme.

James Alden Vaught was allegedly one of
the deputies who resold drugs he'd
confiscated from drug dealers in the
line of duty.

Sergeant Vaught quit the force and
agreed to cooperate with federal

investigators after he got caught.

afternoon on a 25-thousand dollar bond,

He'll have to get rid of any firearms
he has at home, too.

men's basketball poll today, and the
Virginia Wesleyan Marlins were an
overwhelming number one pick.

the league title last season on its way

history of the ODAC. Hampden-Sydney is
picked to finish second while Roanoke
is tied for 5th

Emory & Henry is right there

at 9 and 10.
