is investigating a homicide.

call to this house on Sunset Drive.
That's in the Bassett community.
Inside, deputies found
77-year-old Herbert Hoover Thomas dead.
They also found 45-year-old
Teresa Thomas with several lacerations.
The sheriff's office has not
released any details about how Herbert
Thomas died or how Teresa Thomas was
injured.

package was found outside a military
recruiting office in Lynchburg-- it
tied up traffic for awhile.. and kept
emergency personnel busy for about five
hours.

A Marine Corps recruiter found the
item around 9 this morning outside the
offices on Lakeside Drive.
It appeared to be a bottle filled
with some kind of liquid, inside a
plastic bag that had been sealed with
duct tape and a note on the outside.
The State Police bomb squad was
called in ... and they destroyed the
package by firing a water projectile at
it.
Authorities say it appears it was
a hoax but they couldn't take any
chances.

caller who identifies himself as "Art"
actually is Haggard� and a polygraph
initiated by Jones on Friday reportedly
shows deception on his part. As for
Haggard .. who has been an outspoken
critic of same sex marriage� he has
resigned as the President of the
30-million member National Association
of Evangelicals and stepped down as
pastor or his church in Colorado

month.
The N-T-S-B says the wind, coupled
with the pilot's attempt to make too
sharp a turn, forced the aircraft into
the high-rise apartment.
Lidle was killed along with a flight
instructor. The report does not say
who was flying the plane.
