Timothy Workman was in Roanoke
on assignment back in 2002, when he got
into an argument with Keith Bailey.

Workman's gun went off,
killing Bailey.

Workman was convicted of
voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to
five years in prison.

He appealed to the state
supreme court, arguing prosecutors
withheld evidence that would have
showed he acted in self-defense.

In an opinion released today,
the court agreed and ordered a new
trial.

who killed a Bassett area man and
wounded a woman at the same address.

It happened yesterday morning, but the
information was not released until
today.

1425 Sunset Drive. They found 77 year
old Herbert Thomas dead and 45 year old
Teresa Thomas with several lacerations.

Investigators did not indicate how
Herbert Thomas was killed.

Virginia yesterday.

The U-S Geological Survey says the
three -point- two magnitude quake hit
shortly before one yesterday afternoon.

The quake was centered about seven
miles north-northwest of Raven, and
about eight miles northwest of
Richlands.

Authorities said there were no
immediate reports of damage.

says the Toys for Tots program would
not be as successful without support
from the community.

He adds, the opportunity to see

children who benefit from it is a
welcome and pleasant distraction from
the rigors of day-to-day military
duties.

Cassell CASTLE says he will "assess his
abilities to carry out his duties" in
the next few days before deciding
whether he should resign, take a leave
of absence, or stay on the job. This
comes one day after he was indicted
along with a dozen of his current and

D-E-A intercepted a drug shipment to an

as a drug drop.

The man's landlord was a
sheriff's deputy.

busted, he agreed to cooperate with

basketball coach Byron Samuels
announced last night that he is
resigning at the end of this upcoming
season.

Samuels, who is entering his
fifth year at the helm of the
Highlanders, cited personal and
professional reasons in his
resignation.

He took over as the head coach of
the program in 2002 after serving as an
assistant at Radford under coach Ron
Bradley.

In his four years at R- U,
Samuels' teams won 50 games and lost
65.

Samuels was an assistant at
Tennessee before coming to Radford.

The Highlanders open the season
next Friday night at
Milwaukee-Wisconsin.

gotten the best of a runaway bull .

A bull named Winkle was on the
loose this morning in Newark, New
Jersey.

Police managed to corral the
animal in a parking lot.

But the bull remained feisty,

climbing over an air conditioning unit
as an officer with a rope tried to move
in.

It's not clear where the bull
came from.
