Roanoke leaves one man dead at the
hands of a police officer.

The shooting happened shortly
after midnight in an apartment complex
on Frontier Road.

Roanoke Police Officer William
Wood responded to a domestic dispute.

The officer shot and killed 30
year-old, Melvin Geovanny Castillo
Aguilar.

The officer says Aguilar answered
the door with a knife and did not put
it down when told to do so.

The officer called paramedics,
but Aguilar was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Now, they have questions and are
searching for answers from the police
department.

He says the two were here in
Aguilar's apartment having a good time,
when their conversation turned into an
argument.

Martinez says Aguilar grabbed a
knife and started chasing him down the
street.

Martinez speaks limited English
and has asked his relative to
translate.

put down his weapon.

However, Martinez belives that
because Aguilar spoke limited English,
had been drinking and likely did not
understand the officer.

Martinez says he heard two shots
fired but he did not realize that the
officer had killed his brother- in-law.


The family says they were
surprised to learn of his death at the
police department several hours later.

conducting a criminal investigation.

The outcome of that investiageion
will be turned over to the
Commonwealth's Attorney's office for

The police department will also
conduct an internal investigation to

determine whether the officer followed

on a deadly car accident in Franklin
County.

The accident happened around nine
last night south of Fork Mountain Road
in Sydnorsville.

57-year-old Calvin Moore from
Bassett was driving the car when he ran
off the road.

Moore was thrown from the car and
died at the scene.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The passenger, 44-year-old Winona
Dudley was taken to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital.

Her condition is unknown.

office has arrested two men in
connection with a robbery in Danville.

It happened at Kwik Shop Number 3
on Franklin Turnpike in the Mount
Hermon community around 9:15 last
night.

Deputies arrested Bernard Wesley
Graves of Danville.

He's been charged with Armed
Robbery, possesion of a firearm in the
commission of a felony. Also,
possession of a firearm after being
convicted of a felony.

Graves has been placed in the
Pittsylvania County Jail under a
50-thousand dollar bond.

The second suspect taken into
custody was a sixteen-year-old male
from the Danville.

He was transported to a detention
home and charged with Robbery.

Wasps vs. Generals Wilson Field was packed to the :00 gills today for the biggest game in
recent memory.

The Generals got on the board
first when R-J Warner handed to Colton
Ward who finds the endzone from 13
yards out, straight up the gut for 6.
The PAT made it 7-nothing.

To the third quarter now,
Washington & Lee's Warner gives it to
Stuart Sitterson who flips it to Ward
on the reverse. Ward scampers 14 yards
to the one yard line to setup a
Generals field goal and it was 10-zip.

The Generals 'd' did its part.
Radford product Todd Woods is picked
off by Kyle Harvey, and Harvey smells a
touchdown. He zigs and zags behind
some solid blocking 48 yards for the
score. Washington & Lee led

Emory spoiled the shutout as

Woods airs one out 27 yards to Brennan

The Generals sealed the win as
Warner rolled to his right and found

Coliseum. It will mark the Tech debut
for Head Coach Kevin Dresser who makes
the jump from coaching Christiansburg
High School to Coaching the Hokies.
Coach Dresser wants to get 5-thousand
fans out for the opener. One of his
former Blue Demons, Matt Epperly, will
make his first Tech appearance as well
at 1-hundred 57 Pounds.
