One of the key races here is a battle
for a U-S Senate seat where

Democratic challenger Sherrod Brown has
a considerable edge in the polls

18 House seats are also up for grabs
with at least 4 considered highly

competitive�.including a hotly
contested race between powerful GOP

incumbent Deborah Pryce and challenger
Mary Jo Kilroy.

And while there's a long day of voting
still ahead�.it's clear

Republicans are fighting for their

political lives in Ohio. And if this

state is in fact the bellwether
location that experts predict�.the

Democrats may actually gain ground in

GRAPHIC=Crime A Danville man was shot in an

attempted robbery last night.

It happened at around 7:30 on
Grove Street.

Police say a 23-year-old man was
approached by an unknown black male.

He was armed with a handgun and
demanded money before shooting the man
in the shoulder.

The victim was transported to the
ER for treatment, but his condition is
not considered to be life- threatening.

EVENT=HEALTHCHECK 7 BANNER student has a potential case of the

measles.

A university spokesperson says a
male student was treated yesterday at
the health center on campus.

Blood tests were conducted and
will now confirm whether he has the
measles.

The university also sent out an
e-mail asking students to make sure
their immunizations are up to date.

We understand the student in
question is now recovering at home.

Administrators believe this could
be the first case of the measles at
Tech in nearly fifty years.

hang for crimes against humanity,
Saddam Hussein is calling for national
reconciliation in Iraq.

trying to figure out what started a
house fire early this morning that

killed four children.

Two passersby did what they could to
save everyone inside.

house. We pulled over and ran up to get
here. The kid's screaming. My buddy and
another guy that was with us, they
tried to go in through the front door.
They tried to kick it in, but something
was blocking it and it wouldn't open. I
ran around back and there was the
mother. She was out back lying on the
ground. She had jumped out from the
second floor.

boys were also rescued.

However, firefighters weren't able to

save four other children inside the

Washington state.
