the U.S. Senate, but George Allen says
the election is still too close to
call.
And for the second time in a
year, a statewide race in Virginia
seems likely to be headed for a
recount.

the two are less than ten thousand
votes apart - out of more than two
million cast across the state. The

today.
But shortly after 1:00 a.m., he
told supporters enough votes were in to
claim victory, with more on the way.

One will permit churches to
incorporate, putting the state's
constitution in line with a federal
court ruling. It was approved almost
2-to-1.

So was the other amendment. It
will permit legislators to grant
communities more tax exemption power to
encourage development.

Redevelopment and Housing Authority has
resigned, siting a potential conflict
of interest as the reason.

Last Month Ben Fink is currently
employed by Hays, Seay, Mattern and
Mattern, an engineering firm that has a
contract with the housing authority.
Fink said that contract was
awarded before he took the job. The
housing authority could seek a waiver,
but Fink said he felt it was best to
resign from the board.

are behind bars for a murder that
happened over the weekend.

Mount is facing first degree murder
charges for allegedly shooting and
killing 31-year-old Jake Hairston.

A second man, David Wayne Yopp,
is also in the County jail without
bond.
He's facing assault and firearm
charges.

Both suspects allegedly
confronted the victim Sunday afternoon
over threats the victim supposedly
made.
The confrontation turned into
gunshots with Hairston being fatally

escaped from a mobile home fire.

afternoon on Merrimac Road.
Flames could be seen shooting out
of the front door of their trailer
home.
Investigators believe the fire
started on a couch, but they are still
trying to figure out the cause.
The home was a total loss.

over-the-counter.
But it could be until Mid
November before most pharmacies have it
on the shelves.
