local Democrats rushed to the office of
Roanoke's Voter Registrar, where
election workers were taking a closer
look at records from Tuesday's
election.

Officers from four precincts were
reconciling small discrepancies between
the number of voters recorded in their
poll book counts, and the number of
votes cast on the machines.

The issue involved fewer than ten
votes, and did not affect the election

office to check out the problem.

This is all part of the "Gobble de
Art" Program. Several months ago, 63
of these fiber glass statues were
placed all around the town of
Blacksburg.

They quickly got a lot of attention
because several of the Hokie birds were
vandalized. In fact, there have been a
total of eleven incidents.

Organizers say what may have been a
joke to some was no laughing matter to
them.

against a Galax man accused of killing
two people in a two-state crime spree
is headed for a grand jury.

39 year old Carroll Lineberry is
charged with first degree murder in the
death of a school security guard in
Tennesse.

Police say he shot the officer in
the back and then stole his cruiser.

A judge found there was enough
evidence in the case to move it
forward.

Lineberry is also facing a
capital murder charge in Galax.

Police say before he went to
Tennesse he stabbed and beat a 75 year
old man to death.

crack a six-year-old murder case last
year were honored for their efforts
today by the federal government.

Jacobsen presented Investigators Mike
Wallace and Eddie Burke with plaques
for their work in the Tyree Wimbush
case.

Wimbush was gunned down in 1999 to
keep him from testifying in a drug

Wallace and Burke spent six years
tracking down the men responsible ...
two are now serving life terms in
prison, a third was given a 25-year
prison term.

their grief for more than a year, now
the family and friends of four-teens
killed are taking it to the ring.

were killed in July 2005 when Hale's
car went off the road, overcorrected
and then into the path of a pickup
truck in Bedford County.

Raleigh Court-- not long after a
similar project got poor reception from
people in the neighborhood.

down the old church steeple at the
Unitarian Universalist Church of
Roanoke.

It'l be replaced with a new
steeple that houses a cell phone
antenna.

atop Saint Elizabeth's Episcopal Church
just down the street.

Residents in the area strongly
opposed it and in August the company
withdrew its plans.

City officials say the new Ntelos

proposed at St. Elizabeths.

company has told its employees that
it's O-K to once again greet shoppers
with Merry Christmas instead of the

The reports says Walmart made the
decision a year after several groups
boycotted the world's largest retailer

Center's Christmas tree was cut down in
Ridgefield, Connecticut.

The nine TON tree stands 88 feet

tall and is 45 feet in diameter.

A 115 foot long trailer will

up the tree at Rockefeller plaza
tomorrow morning.

This morning the sign and arch at
Crossroads mall came down on
Hershberger Road.

Built in the early 1960's...
Crossroads was of one the first Malls
in the Roanoke Valley.

The arch was added later... and
became the icon for the shopping
center.

The decline of Crossroads began
when Tanglewood Mall opened its doors.

Advance Auto Parts corporate
offices now occupy the former Circuit
City building.

the Region C volleyball champs.
Tonight they knocked off Grayson County
3 games to none. Glenvar won it 27-25,

25-11, and 25-13. The Highlanders will
play at home on Tuesday night in the
state quarterfinals.

In the Region 3 semis,
Brookville beat Hidden Valley in four
games, and Cave Spring knocked off
Rustburg in three. The Bees and
Knights will meet in the final
Saturday.

15th rated Rutgers. The Cardinals were
hoping to keep alive their national
title aspirations.

the ODAC women' s coaches gathered for
their annual media day.

Bridgewater is ranked in the
national polls and the Eagles topped
the league's preseason list while
Washington & Lee checked in 5th,
Lynchburg 9th and Hollins 11th.

Susan Dunagan has 4 seniors and
4 freshman on her Roanoke College team
this season. The Maroons were picked
4th preseason.

60-minutes...died today of
complications from leukemia at Mount
Sinai Hospital in New York.

Bradley's colleagues at C-B-S say
he will be dearly missed..

He spent the last 25 years
working for C-B-S's 60 minutes.

Over the years he compiled a body
of work that brought him wide
recognition, including 19 emmy awards.

Bradley was 65 years old.

leads store employees on a wild chase
up and down the aisles.....as startled
customers looked on.

After about twenty minutes....the
