Amendment that easily passed in Tuesday
night's elections.....

5 to 1 to deny Gilbert Maxwell a
conditional use permit for his one acre
lot despite the planning commission's
recommendation.

A town ordinance created in the

difference in the war in Iraq.

27 percent think it'll mean more
success, while 21 percent think it'll
mean less success.

administrative leave.

by his wife and his attorneys- Sheriff
Cassell held a press conference in
Roanoke.


The sheriff did *NOT* speak to
reporters, but his lawyer read a
prepared statement saying Cassell would
go on unpaid leave until the case was
resolved.

His attorney also said that this
in NO way indicates guilt.

It was last Thursday when Cassell
and a dozen of his deputies, both past
and present. were indicted in federal
court.

The prosecution claims members of
the department stole seized guns and
drugs and sold them back into the
community.

The Sheriff is accused of money
laundering, obstruction, false
statement and covering for his
deputies.
