investigating a homicide.

Units were called to the Z-Mart
on Melrose Avenue around 10:30 last
night.
According to a police report, a
male suspect shot a store clerk during
an attempted robbery.
The male victim died while being
transported to the hospital.
The suspect fled in a vehicle and
was later apprehended on foot after a
police-pursuit.
The female driver of the vehicle
was also taken into custody.
Roanoke Police have not released
the names of the victim or the
suspects.

bill could go up more than expected.
Appalachian Power has filed a
request with the Virginia State
Corporation Commission seeking approval
to increase fuel components to
customers' bills.
If this happens, Appalachian
customers who use 1,000 kilowatt's an
hour in a billing month will see an
increase of more than three percent,
which is around two and a half dollars.
If passed, it won't take affect
until the first of January.

in Grayson County.

Unitarian Universalist Church of
Roanoke.
It'l be replaced with a new
steeple that houses a cell phone
antenna.

atop Saint Elizabeth's Episcopal Church
just down the street.
Residents in the area strongly
opposed it and in August the company

robbery attempt in Roanoke.

on Melrose Avenue around 10:30 last
night.
According to a police report, a
male suspect shot a store clerk during
an attempted robbery.
The victim, a male, died while
being transported to the hospital.
The suspect fled in a vehicle and
was later apprehended on foot after a
police-pursuit.
The female driver of the vehicle
was also taken into custody.
Roanoke Police have not released
the names of the victim or the
suspects.

to death last night.
33-year-old John Yancey Schmitt
was executed by lethal injection for
the 1999 murder of a bank security
guard in Chesterfield.
Schmitt's attorneys had filed for

derailed just east of Sacramento,
California.

nearby woods, and thick smoke could be
seen for miles.
It's believed between six and eight
people were injured.
The Union Pacific train was carrying
six thousand gallons of hydraulic fuel,

workers were aboard, and two people are
believed to be missing.

Crossroads was of one the first Malls

The arch was added later... and

The decline of Crossroads began

was executed by lethal injection for
the 1999 murder of a bank security
guard in Chesterfield.

Units were called to the Z-Mart
on Melrose Avenue around 10:30 last
night. According to a police
report, a male suspect shot a store
clerk during an attempted robbery. The
