change of heart.

After placing himself on unpaid
administrative leave last week, today
Frank Cassell announced he would
instead retire.

tonight will keep factory workers home
for a few days.

this evening.

Firefighters found smoke and some
fire at the rear of the building but

department has responded to fires at

steelworkers hit the picket line for a

temporary injunction that puts limits
on striking steelworkers outside the
Goodyear plant.

benefits protection.

A judge issued an injunction today

the number of picketers outside the

Police say it happened
Saturday night around 8:15.

81-year-old Merle Bean was
getting out of her car behind her home
on Academy Street when the car rolled

investigating three serious hunting
accidents, one of them fatal.

Deputies say 53 year old Ronald
Wayne Hamilton of Coeburn, Virginia was
killed Friday afternoon.

He fell 11-feet from a tree stand
while hunting in the Speedwell section
of the county.

shot in the eye when his muzzle loading

reach the third victim, 45 year old

Remember, this shelter was
criticized for putting too many animals
down early this year. But things have
changed thanks to a surge of
volunteers.

Tech police ran across their
first counterfiet ticket of the year at
this weekend's game....It's a replica
of a student ticket.

Police say a person tried to
enter the stadium Saturday afternoon,
but ticket handlers knew something was
up when they scanned the ticket and it

The person told police they'd
bought it a few hours earlier from a
man on the street off of Spring Road.

Police don't have much to go on,
but they are investigating.

became official. Butch Davis will be
the next Coach of the North Carolina
Tar Heels. Davis returns to the

college ranks, his last stop was in the
Pro's with the Cleveland Browns.

Davis earned his college coaching
stripes at Miami where he rebuilt the
Hurricanes program during the 90's.
Now he will get to face Miami every

in Ponte Vedra at the Sawgrass resort -
Media members from all over the nation
picked Tech finish second in the
Coastal Division - which they liekly
will, but they also picked Wake Forest
to finish dead last in the Atlantic -
which is now dead wrong.

In fact - Jim Grobe's team and
the coach himself are getting a nothing
but votes of confidence these days.

but beating the best.

No one in Blacksburg understands
the Wake Forest way better than first
year receivers coach Kevin Sherman. He
spent five years on the Demon Deacons
staff before coming to Tech, and before
that he was a Grobe assistant at Ohio
University for four seasons.

Winston-Salem two years ago remember
all too well how tough the game was in
2004. The Hokies survived 17-to-10 in
