Volvo has announced plans to trim
its workforce in Dublin by about
one-thousand employees.

The company is anticipating a
decline across the board for heavy duty
vehicles, and as a result they're going
to cut where they can.

The New River Valley plant
employs more than 31-hundred people.

The first round of layoffs are
expected to start in January.

He even points out that the
town's budget rests heavily on the
truck-maker because many of Volvo's
subcontractors lease buildings from
Dublin and that alone has boosted the
economy and prevented a tax raise.

His concern is that any change
could impact their resources.

weight-gain is that the "freshman 15"
is more like 5-to-7 pounds for typical
students.

But the lifestyle change that
leads to the extra weight does concern
health experts.

ENG#=1 VO NAT

VO NAT That's because freshmen
experience a new-found freedom over
their personal decisions like
what-and-how-much to eat and when to
sleep.

There are also the emotional
factors of being away from home and
dealing with the stress of the added
workload.

Fitness expert, Dr. John Creasy
of Roanoke College says some students
could reverse the weight-gain simply by
adding more activity to their
schedules.

But unfortunately, many shy away
from the exercise-center because they
are intimidated by the equipment and
the fit-people working-out inside.

Dr. Creasy says, the key is to
not go-it alone.

Students who do experience
weight-gain can shed the pounds by

calories.

And, the 30-minutes do not have
to come all at once.

That will cutdown some of the
cravings.

And, of course, eating a healthy,

A car bomb turned Iraq s Defense
Ministry parking lot into a junkyard..
the beginning of another bloody day
after a weekend that left more than 200
Iraqis dead.

(Josh Bolton, White House Chief of
Staff) ( Face the Nation )

BOLTEN: 10:43:46 The president
obviously wants to take a whole fresh
look at what we're doing in Iraq.
Nobody is happy with what our situation
in Iraq is now.

Fresh ideas should be on the table this
morning when President Bush meets with
the bi-partisan Iraq Study Group. Led
by former Secretary of State James

Baker.. and 9/11 commission co-chair
Lee Hamilton.. the panel.. nearing the
end of its review.. may recommend
Washington open a dialogue on Iraq with
Iran and Syria.

(Dan Bartlett, White House Counselor)
(Courtesy: Fox News Sunday )

BARTLETT 10:26:29 if there are good
suggestions coming from either the
Baker-Hamilton Commission or elsewhere
-- members of Congress, both Republican
and Democrat -- we want to listen to
them.

Democrats embolden by their new
majority in Congress.. plan to push the
President to start bringing U-S forces
home.

(Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI)) (Courtesy: ABC
This Week )

LEVIN 9:02:25 our presence there is not
open-ended and that, as a matter of
fact, we need to begin a phased
redeployment of forces from Iraq in
four to six months

The White House has already said it

will not support a withdrawal
timetable.. but one sign of significant
policy change came last week.. with the
President s announcement that Donald
Rumsfeld was out.. and that he had
chosen former CIA Director Robert Gates
to lead the Pentagon.

CLOSE: Gates was a part of the Iraq
Study Group until his nomination. The
panel s final recommendations are not
expected until next month. Susan

For some, it's a habit to

There s new hope that early testing and
treatment can prevent rheumatoid
arthritis.

(vo)

Dutch researchers gave blood tests to
patients with inflammatory arthritis, a
temporary condition that causes painful
swelling in joints.

They discovered some patients possessed
an antibody that can lead to rheumatoid
arthritis.

The researchers were able to treat
those patients with medication and
ward-off full-blown rheumatoid
arthritis.

(wipevo) (Video From Barts Hospital)

Doctors in Britain are hopeful about
another new treatment possibility..
this one for heart failure.

They are testing a procedure for using

adult stem cells from the patient s
bone marrow to help repair damaged
heart muscles.

The stem cells are injected into the
heart within just hours of a heart
attack.. to try and stop the attack in
its tracks.

(wipevo)

And paramedics in Miami, Florida have
found a way to cut their response time
to medical emergencies.. motorcycles.

The bikes allow motor medics to zip
through traffic and answer emergency
calls faster... assessing injuries and
stabilizing patients in those first
critical minutes when someone is hurt.

They can squeeze the kind of equipment
normally found on an ambulance right
under the motorcycle seat.

(oncam)

Those are some of the day s top health
stories.

bgrebe@wdbj7.com Kimberly, the skinny on
weight-gain is that the "freshman 15"
is more like 5-to-7 pounds for typical
students.

But the lifestyle change that
leads to the extra weight does concern
health experts.

ENG#=1 VO NAT

VO NAT That's because freshman
experience a new-found freedom over
their personal decisions like
what-and-how-much to eat and when to
sleep.

There are also the emotional
factors of being away from home and
dealing with the stress of the added
workload.

Fitness expert, Dr. John Creasy
of Roanoke College says some students
could reverse the weight-gain simply by
adding more activity to their
schedules.

But unfortunately, many shy away

from the exercise-center because they
are intimidated by the equipment and
the fit-people working-out inside.

Dr. Creasy says, the key is to
not go-it alone.

calories.

And, the 30-minutes do not have
to come all at once.

Another key is making sure to get
enough sleep.

That will cutdown some of the
cravings.

And, of course, eating a healthy,

That's something we all struggle

sound decisions of what to eat and

This weekend dozens of veterans
got a sneak peak of the The National
Museum of the the Marine Corps.

The museum spreads across 118
thousand square feet.

There's a lot of history housed
here and tonight on News 7 at Six,
Jennifer Wishon takes us inside on an
in-depth tour.

And she'll explains how this
museum puts regular, everyday folks on
the front lines.
