the go-ahead to Randolph Macon Woman's
College to start a major expansion on
its campus.

plenty of people have worked to support
the troops and remember those who

didn't make it back alive.

But a local family has learned
sometimes good intentions don't always
produce good results.

one in Iraq and then faced another
battle.

because all they wanted to do was build
a lasting memorial in his honor.

Ryan Howard.

The Alleghany County native died in
August 2004 when his helicopter crashed
in Iraq.

Several months after Ryan's death,
his family got involved in the Statues
of Servicemen Campaign.

It's a nationwide effort to build
busts of every U.S. Servicemen who has
died in Iraq.

But the Howard family now feels the

campaign is nothing more than a scam.

tonight to pay their respects to a
convenience store owner who was
murdered last week.

the Z-mart, the store he owned on
Melrose Avenue.

Almajali (AL-muh-JAH-lee) moved
to the United States from Jordan in
1989, and had owned the Z-mart since
1992.

Relatives, and friends described
him as a good person and friendly
presence, who cared about his

customers.

Now, police are trying to piece

they've found.

mile behind the Food Lion along Tyler
Avenue.

Radford Police say after scouring
the area with cadaver dogs for
days...about 50-60 percent of human
body remains were found.

An anthropologist at Radofrd
University told police the bones were
of a white male age 30-40.

He also said they had been there
for a year or more.

The remains have been sent to the
medical examiner in Roanoke.

Police are waiting to hear from
that office and they're hoping there
will be more information so they can
find out who this person was.

Northern Ohio couple accused of making
their adopted special needs children
sleep in what prosecutors describe as
cages...

VO-NAT The enclosures, made of chicken

wire and two by fours had doors but no
locks...and had alarms to warn the
couple if the children let themselves
out.

The couple has denied mistreating
the children, who have since been
placed in foster care.

A family psychologist says she
advised the family to use the
enclosures for safety of the kids.
Their mother says the kids wanted the
enclosed beds because they were
"clubhouses."

The couple has been charged with
16 counts of felony child endangerment.

If convicted, they could face one
to five years in prison for each count.

Group Two A - Brookville beat Abingdon
in three games, while Cave Spring
whipped Tunstall in the three games in

the quarterfinals.
