high alert.
That's because deer are
everywhere and deer related vehicle
crashes are a big problem here in
Virginia.

Just this week, State Farm
Insurance released some surprising
statistics.
Based on insurance claims,
nationwide, Pennsylvania tops the list
for the most collisions involving deer.
And get this, Virginia ranks
sixth in the nation.

thousand deer locally.

Here are the top five for dead deer.
As you can see, V-Dot picks up the
most in Bedford and Montgomery
Counties.
Last year, each had a thousand or
more.

on its way of matching or surpassing
last year's record.

EVENT=TRAFFIC ALERT BANNER At least ONE lane of Interstate
81 in Botetourt County will remain
closed until sometime tomorrow.

Two tractor trailers
crashed near Arcadia, closing both
northbound and one southbound lanes.
The southbound lanes are now
open, along with the right northbound
lane, but V-DOT says the LEFT
northbound lane will take some time to
reopen while crews repair a hole in the
overpass.
The mess began when a
southbound tractor trailer hit a guard
rail and overturned on the bridge
across Route 11.
Its cargo broke loose and hit a
tractor trailer heading the other
direction.

better idea tonight, of who's remains
were found in the woods.

Two hunters found a human skull
about two weeks ago in the woods behind
the Food Lion on Tyler Avenue.
Police believe the bones were
from a white man who was 30 or 40 years
old.
Tonight, police say evidence
found near the remains lead them to a
name, but they it's too early to know
for sure.
It could take the medical
examiner weeks to "officially" identify
the body.
Police say they do NOT suspect
foul play at this time.

wondered whether they'd finally found
Gina Hall.

VO-NAT The 18-year old Radford student
was lured to a cabin at Claytor Lake
one night in June, 1980.
Gruesome crime scene evidence
indicated she did not leave here alive,
though her body has never been found.
Stephen Epperly became the first
person in Virginia ever convicted of
first-degree murder without a body.
He's still serving a life
sentence.
And police in Radford continue to
search for Gina Hall's remains.

dollar bid for Delta Airlines, a
proposal that's raising concern at
airports across the country..

interested, and the deal may never get
off the ground, but officials at
Roanoke Regional Airport say they will
be watching the developments with a
close eye.
A merger could improve the
financial position of two airlines that

from Roanoke, AND the number of
connecting cities.
US Airways and Delta are
Roanoke's top two carriers.

Copperman last Spring shortly after he
landed a record deal with the U-K
division of Sony-BMG music.
Since then Copperman's moved to
London- and has been touring

this time the story is centered around
what his publisher calls his
confession.

murdering his ex-wife Nicole and her
friend Ron Goldman.
Now, some are calling his latest

Florida, where former Hokie great Don
Strock has resigned as the head coach
at Florida International.
He turned in his resignation
today, but will coach the Panthers in
their final three games of the season.
Strock's team went 5 and 6 last
year and many thought this could be a
break through year for hte program.
Instead, it has been a disaster. The
team is 0-and-9 and remember this was
the team involved in the bench clearing
brawl with Miami earlier this year.

was in Lexington as VMI beat Virginia
Intermont 156-to-95.
24 different Cameron Hall or
school records were shattered in the
game. 61 three point shots were
attempted, and VMI's Reggie Williams
scored 45 points breaking the single
game VMI scoring mark set and held by
the great Ron Carter who scored 42
against Long Beach State in 1978. Not
sure that breaking a 28 year old record
against an NAIA school from Bristol
shouldn't have an asterick beside it.

intent with the University of Arkansas.
White has 10 state titles,
including 3 in cross country. She was
also named the 2005-06 Gatorade Athlete

continue his baseball career at VMI
where he'll pitch for the Keydets.
Flora has won 20 games for the
Vikings over the last three years, with
a 2.05 ERA and 200 strikeouts.

is again making crazy headlines.

VO-NAT On ebay this afternoon an auction
ended for - Marcus' customized ring
from the 2003 Insight Bowl.
The bidding on the one of kind
piece of Hokie Memoribilia began at a
modest $20 bucks but ended at just
after five o'clock tonight with the
winning bidder paying $826 dollars for
the ring.
The seller was based in Newport
News and supposedly Vick gave the ring
to gilr, who in turn sold it to the
ebay seller when she needed some fast
cash.
Vick played receiver in that bowl
game and caught a touchdown pass.
We have learned that the ring was
purchased by a Tech fan from southwest
Virginia.
