weatherman Jamey Singleton has been
fired from his job at Channel 10.

Singleton was "terminated"

yesterday afternoon, though management
at W-S-L-S says it had nothing to do
with Singleton's admission of heroin
use.

The station's interim manager
says it was due to "an inappropriate
photograph made public by way of
e-mail."

another of Singleton's drug suppliers
was sentenced in federal court.

serve 2-and-a half years behind bars,
having admitted he provided heroin to
Singleton and his fellow meteorologist
Marc Lamarre.

Honaker's sentence could have
been much tougher, if he had not

The judge told Honaker he'd come
very close to earning himself a LIFE
sentence.

This morning, buses will only use
snow routes to transport students to

The hope is to eliminate

Ramada Inn to hear why the clinic is a
bad idea.

reckless handling of a firearm, after a
deadly shooting at a local motel.

yesterday that starting July 4,
Independence Day, they will be going
smoke-free.

They say they're not against smokers
but this decision is about improving
health care.

Last June, workers were banned from
smoking on site.. Officials say this
was just the next step.

During the transition period the
health care providers say they will
work with their doctors to find
smoke-free alternatives such as
medications or the patch, for patients
who smoke.

of the more popular fundraisers for the
Educational Center.

Each holiday season, folks can
bid on the specially decorated
Christmas trees, or just sneak-a-peak
at the 20-plus on display to get
decorating ideas.

Without the trees, there could be
no festival. That's where local
Lynchburg businesses step up to the
plate.

They're the ones who donate and
decorate them. Now the trees are up
for silent auction... and these aren't
the ordinary iconic holiday symbols.

Amazement Square's tree is
Egyptian themed, inspired by its new
exhibit. BB&T decorated a money tree,
with... real money as ornaments.

Other trees included one
for-and-from Jimmy Buffet fans complete
with parrot lights and ornaments and
there's a tree for Wahoo fans, decked
out in hand-made UVA decorations.

A pink-feathered princess tree,
perfect for a little girl or a woman
young-at-heart and a tree covered with
Christmas ornament hand-painted by
local artist, Amy Calabra Davis of
Light of Mine Designs are among the
many other trees on display and open
for auction at the Festival of Trees.

The money raised from the
week-long festival goes a long way in
advancing Amazement Square's education
efforts.

In addition to the tree auction,
there was a holiday tea party with over
250 in attendance.

Saturday morning features

And the festival wraps up Sunday
evening with a Gala.

after an argument.

The sheriff said two friends had

fight.

chest.

highway in a relay to support our
troops.

They started in California last
week and today they stopped in Roanoke.

Along the way, they've made about
20 stops and at each destination bikers

Afghanistan and Iraq.

They were damaged by an
accident involving two tractor trailers
Wednesday afternoon.

One lane in each direction

will be closed until the damage is
repaired.

Roanoke City Public School buses
are using snow routes to transport
students to and from school today. The
hope is to eliminate confusion when
snow routes must be used during
inclement weather.

working around the clock to fix two
bridges over Route 11 near Arcadia in
Botetourt County.

They were damaged by an
accident involving two tractor trailers
Wednesday afternoon.

One lane in each direction
