family lost their son in the Iraq War,
only to face another battle after his
death.

Soon after Ryan Howard died while
serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, his
family went to work to make sure his
sacrifice wouldn't be forgetten.

They got involved with the
Statues of Servicemen Campaign which is
a nationwide effort that builds bronze
statues of deceased U-S soldiers.

The family never got their
statue.

Instead, they say they got
dupped.

The leader of the campaign says
that's not what happend.

He says donations dried up after
Hurricane Katrina.

So, the Howard family once again
went to work raising money to build
their own statue.

a shooting on Main Street.

block after getting reports about shots
being fired in that area. Police
found a 15-year old boy who had been
shot.

The teenager was taken to
Danville Regional Medical Center.

trying to find out who's behind a
weekend shooting.

100 block of East Cadbury around 3:30
yesterday morning.

When they got there, they found a
woman who had been shot twice in the
chest.

Right now she's in stable

condition at Lynchburg General.

Police have not tracked down the
gunman.

It happened just after four
yesterday morning near mile marker 126

Police say Stephanie Anne
Kingrea's Honda Accord rear-ended the
back of an 18-wheeler and got trapped

underneath.

She was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Police have confirmed the victim
was wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol

family lost their son in the Iraq War,
only to face another battle after his
death.

serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, his

family went to work to make sure his
sacrifice wouldn't be forgetten.

They got involved with the
Statues of Servicemen Campaign which is
a nationwide effort that builds bronze
statues of deceased U-S soldiers.

The family never got their
statue.

Instead, they say they got
dupped.

The leader of the campaign says
that's not what happend.

He says donations dried up after
Hurricane Katrina.

So, the Howard family once again
went to work raising money to build
their own statue.

The Harvest Bowl Blood Challenge
starts today.

For the third year, fans and
alumni are being asked to come out to
give blood.

The Red Cross will keep track of
the number of Hokie fans and Wahoo fans
that donate.

Turnout has not been as
great-as-expected in years past, so
organizers are giving out some great
prizes to boost attendance.

Donors can register to win
one-of-two pairs of tickets for
Saturday's big game.

A 20-year-old woman from Roanoke is
dead after an accident on Interstate 81
in Montgomery County early yesterday
morning.

Police say Stephanie Anne
Kingrea's Honda Accord rear-ended the
back of an 18-wheeler and got trapped
underneath.

She was pronounced dead at the
scene.

shooting on Main Street Saturday
evening

Officers went out to the 15-hundred
block after getting reports about shots
being fired in that area.

Upon arrival, they found a
15-year old boy who had been shot.

And Lynchburg police are also
investigating a weekend shooting.
Officers were called out to the 100
block of East Cadbury around 3:30
yesterday morning.

When they got there, they found a
woman who had been shot twice in the
chest. She is reportedly in stable
