caught fire in Southeast Roanoke.

The fire broke out around seven
Sunday morning on the 900 block of 5th
Street.
Fire officials say when they were
finally able to pry their way inside,
they found 71-year-old Carolyn Perry.
Perry was rushed to the hospital
where she later died. Friends and
family spent the morning at the house
surveying the damage.
The cause of this fire has not
been released.

four dead and dozens injured.
Officials say the blast happened
near a train station about 345 miles
north of Calcutta.
They say the death toll could rise,

Weller was 86 when his car plowed

brake.
Weller could receive a sentence of
probation to 18 years in prison.

family lost their son in the Iraq War,
only to face another battle after his
death.

serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, his
family went to work to make sure his
sacrifice wouldn't be forgetten.
They got involved with the
Statues of Servicemen Campaign-- which
is a nationwide effort that builds
bronze statues of deceased U-S
soldiers.
The family never got their
statue.
Instead, they say they got duped.
But the leader of the campaign
says that's not what happend.
He says donations dried up after
Hurricane Katrina.
So, the Howard family once again
went to work raising money to build
their own statue.

but Chinese health officials are
trying to bring surgery hopefuls back
down to Earth. Ten people were
disfigured by the operation last year�
leading the government to warn
against leg-lengthening surgery for
cosmetic reasons.
But many jobs in China � from nurses to
flight attendants -- have height
restrictions�. Even college students
are subject to the measuring tape:
film majors and future foreign
diplomats are required to be at least 5
foot 3.
In modern China, leg-surgery means more
than simply rising above the
competition�
Height differences are increasingly
linked to social status�. Well-fed
children in urban cities are breaking
height records -- creating an
uneven playing field between those who
can afford nutritious food and
those who can�t.
One consolation: Tall people are all
the rage now, but those who reject
leg-stretching surgery only have to
look back in history for good role
models� The architect of China�s
booming economy, Deng Xiaoping, was

issues for the last year, the Lime Kiln
Theater is climbing out of debt.
At one point, the theater was
close to shutting down for good -
But with diligent fundraising and
dedication from local volunteers, it's
out of the danger zone
The organization has also
restructured it's budget.

The next big project for the
theater will be the Monte Carlo
fundraiser this coming January.
Theater operators say they hope
to open the doors a little earlier than
usual -possibly in April.

season started with the suspension of
his crew chief Chad Knaus (Kuh- nouse)
during Speedweek.
But Johnson promptly won the Daytona
500, and 9 months later, he's a Nextel
Cup Series Champ.

to 40th after getting patched up.
Then, a loose lugnut in the pits
cost him several spots.
But the 48 team battled back to

Late in the race, Ryan Newman
tangled with Juan Montoya, whose car
erupted into a fireball.
But both were OK.
The race was red- flagged for
clean up, only delaying the inevitable.
Greg Biffle took the checkered
flag in the Ford 400.
But that was an afterthought,
because Johnson finished 9th, giving
him the championship by 56 points over
2nd place Matt Kenseth.
It's the 6th title for car owner
Rick Hendrick.

The Hokies got the win, despite
