Investigators searching for the cause
of Monday�s fatal school bus crash

in Alabama are taking a close look at
this car and its young driver.

"We are looking marks on the roadway,
marks on the barrier, looking at

the vehicles to try to understand what
happened."

The unidentified driver, a student at
the same school as the victims,

has spoken to police and been released.
No charges have been filed.

But witnesses say his 19-90 Toyota
Celica cut off the bus�forcing it

into a concrete barrier and ultimately
off a 30 foot elevated highway.

pushed the bus up on the wall and

the bus flipped over."

School is open here today with students
having the option of attending

classes; meanwhile grief counselors are
available for anyone who needs

help coping with this tragedy.

More than 30 students were on the bus
when it crashed. Students

Christine Collier and Nicole Ford died
at the scene�while Tanesha Hill

died later at the hospital. The bus
driver and several students remain

in critical condition.

changes to school bus safety
standards...

but those changes did not come soon
enough to prevent this tragedy.

end and invasion of gypsy moths.

VO-NAT County officials have applied for

federal aid to help suppress gypsy
moths by spraying.

This past summer gypsy moths
invaded nearly ten thousand acres on
Poor and Bent Mountains.

If the infestation continues it
could result in lower property values
and a higher risk of wildfires when the
trees begin to die.

But the Bush Administration is
seeking major cuts in federally funded
aerial spraying...that spraying was
created to eliminate gypsy moths.

Supporters of the cuts say
spraying already-infested areas isn't
cost-effective and suggest selective
tree cutting instead.
