retiring police chief as it fights a
40-million dollar lawsuit against the
town and police department.

A Montgomery County woman claims
a female police officer with the force
failed to protect her from an abusive
husband because the officer was
secretly in a relationship with him.
Wendy Diane Hall Covington made
the allegations in a 40 million dollar
suit filed this month in federal court.
In a statement attorney John
Fishwick says Covington's civil rights
were severely violated by the
defendants and that this case addresses
the importance of having an independent
and unbiased police force. He says
they look forward to to trying the
case.

to a speedy trial today.

He's scheduled to be back in

pleaded guilty to shooting his
estranged girlfriend in the face last
spring.
57-year-old Donnie Don Beverley
entered the plea agreement today in
Lynchburg Circuit Court.

40-year-old Stacy Bartley as she sat in
her car outside the American Hoffmann
plant where she worked May 19th.
Bartley had recently broken off
their relationship and prosecutors say

killing three people in Amherst County.

Police say he sexually abused a
15-year-old boy for nearly six-months.

Harry is being held in the

Monday The American Red Cross announced
the results of its Harvest Bowl Blood
Challenge.
U-V-A and Virginia Tech fans
donated nearly 130 pints of blood at
several events this week.
Hokie fans outnumbered the Hoos
in the final tally. However, all
donors were entered in drawings for
tickets to Saturdays showdown in
Blacksburg and other prizes.

Bobby Martin is currently the
Head Basketball Coach it George
Washington High School in Danville,
Virginia. He had the chance to coach
both Cam and Orion when they played
Ball at G.W.

In High School Cam was the more
highly touted recruit. Orion took the
round about way to Blacksburg with
stops at Norfolk State and Hargrave.
Now Orion has become a regular
contributor on the Tech Defense. Cam
has had to take a back-seat to his
brother as injuries have slowed him
down.

giving back this Thanksgiving.

and Girls Club in Newport News this
week to hand out turkeys and all the
fixins to needy families. Vick spent
many hours at the center while growing
up in a single-parent household. Now,
he comes back to the club every year to
