Emergency first responders are
constantly on call even during the
holidays.

But one family wanted to make
sure they didn't go without all the
holiday fixings.

The Fink Family along with
volunteers from their church fed all
the fire fighters in Roanoke City, the
county and Salem.

They also made deliveries to
emergency room workers.

It's called operation Turkey Drop

and organizers say it's their way of
saying thank-you.

day run became the city's biggest ever
5-k race today.

The Rescue Mission held the
Drumstick Dash through downtown Roanoke
this morning.

Mission officials were only
expecting about 500 runners and they
were hoping to raise 50-thousand
dollars to help feed the hungry.

than 100-thousand dollars.

runners and even entire families, all
the way down to the baby carriage.

Officials say they plan to make

the dash an annual event.

The mission serves nearly

One dollar from every
participant's entry fee in the marathon

burning home on Harrison Avenue around
7:30 this morning.

Flames were shooting from
the second floor when they got there.

One person got out safely.

The cause of the fire is
still under investigation.

Meanwhile, investigators
continue to search for the cause of a
fire last night on Campbell Avenue.

A home under renovation
went up in flames around 7:35.

Two neighboring houses were
damaged by the intense heat.

No one was injured in that
fire either.

hardwood, spending Thanksgiving in
Orlando, taking on Western Michigan at
DisneyWorld in the Old Spice Classic.
Tech was oh and 4 all time against the
Broncos.

Jamon Gordon was back in his
home state of Florida and he knocks
down the baseline jumper early.

Tech led by 11 at one point,

the second half.

Zabian Dowdell tried to lead a
Hokie comeback, as the Hokie from
Pahokie *CG final Western Michigan nails the triple. But Western Michigan 71 hung on to win it, 71 to 68 handing Virginia Tech Tech its first loss of the season. The 68 Hokies will face either West Virginia
or Montana Friday.
