81 to get to your Thanksgiving
destination, you might want to leave a
little early.

State Police in Salem say there
is still some congestion along the
highway this morning .

If the traffic isn't bad enough,
wait 'til you have to make a pit stop.

We're specifically talking about
some of the state's rest areas.

News 7's Justin McLeod tells us
about the problem.

For some, it was a hot meal they
otherwise wouldn't have had.

Others just stopped in for the

Some folks ate a meal and gave a
donation.

Others ate the dinner and gave a
heart-felt thanks.

But all received a blessing, and
Pastor Barlow says that's what
Thanksgiving is all about.

The question is then, how can a

Thanksgiving, service men and women in
Iraq are making the most of the

(END SOT) Inside the green zone chefs put the

Thanksgiving desserts.

(Preston White, Supervisor, Kellog,

SOT It's a pretty depressed time of

year for people who aren't at home, not

only for the soldiers but for the
civilians that are over here too. So
they come to the 'defac' to try to get
a little taste of Thanksgiving cheer

The situation on the streets of
Baghdad.. where US and Iraqi troops
launched fresh raids today.. is
anything but cheery. A United Nations
report found more than 37-hundred Iraqi
civilians were killed in October --
making it the deadliest month since the
war began. And observers predict this
month's death toll will be even higher.

(Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for the
UN Secretary General)

SOT The people paying the price are the

civilians, the civilian population,
they are being victimized by terrorism.

More than 100 Iraqis died yesterday
alone.. and three U-S Marines were
killed in fighting.

The Marines new commandant told
reporters the current pace of troop
rotations in Iraq is taking its toll..
and the corps may need to increase it

size to sustain deployments.

(GFX)

General James Conway said, "There is
stress on the individual Marines that
is increasing, and there is stress on
the institution to do what we are
required to do

Conway warns it could take years to
adequately train and equip Iraqi forces
to take over the fight. That could mean
many more Thanksgivings in Iraq.

Tuesday And as usual, over 100 community
members around the mission on Patterson
Avenue broke bread together.

The dinner has grown, not through
advertising -- there's only two small
signs posted outside the building --
but by word of mouth... fitting,
considering the tasty meal being
served.

For some, it was a hot meal they
otherwise wouldn't have had.

Others just stopped in for the

fellowship.

Some folks ate a meal and gave a
donation.

Others ate the dinner and gave a
heart-felt thanks.

But all received a blessing, and
Pastor Barlow says that's what
Thanksgiving is all about.

The question is then, how can a
congregation of so few -- just 15
members -- help so many?

receive a blessing as well.
