stores opened as early as 5:00 A.M. to
greet shoppers.

Valley View anticipates roughly 5
million shoppers during November and
December.

And today many of them turned out
and found the hot ticket items they
were hunting for.

shoppers also found a challenge

Operation Safe Shopper this morning.

They've added bike patrols for
the holidays to the major shopping
areas in town.

At least two bike cops will be on
duty at all times from Friday through

According to the National Retail
Federation, sales of the cards will
increase 34-percent over last year to
nearly 25 billion dollars.

But it's important to point out buyer
beware.

Some cards carry expiration dates or
fees.

For example, some retailers charge
inactivity fees such as subtracting one
or two dollars for every month you
don't use the card.

And also keep in mind, many cards
that are lost of stolen will not be
replaced.

line of duty today.

Police say Trooper Robert
Hill..... a 19 year veteran.... had
stopped a car near Emporia on Route 58.

police say he was hit by a Cadillac
driven by an 84 year old man.

Hill was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Two other people were also
injured in the incident.

Hill is survived by a wife and
two children.

determined that a former Russian spy
was indeed poisoned with a radioactive
substance....now they are wondering if
it's safe to perform an autopsy.

yesterday in a London hospital.

Britain's Health Protection
Agency says the radioactive element
polonium-210 was found in his urine.

They say there have been

but accused his opponents of "political
provocation."

Orlando's Historic Gatorland Park to
shut down...

attraction reopened.....the grand
