trooper was killed in the line of duty
yesterday.

Police say Trooper Robert Hill
had stopped a car near Emporia on Route
58.

While he was outside his cruiser,
police say he was hit by a Cadillac
driven by an 84-year-old man.

Hill was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Two other people were also
injured in the incident.

warning residents to lock vehicle
doors.

This comes after a number of
robberies.

Police say citizens have reported
13 break-ins in their vehicles near
Lake Lanier LUH-NEAR.

Authorities say most break-ins
are because of unlocked doors, and in
many cases, electronics have been
stolen.

GRAPHIC= ROBBERY Police are looking for an armed

robbery suspect in Danville.

Authorities say it happened at
around 10:30 last night at the Gate
Petroleum Station on West Main Street.

Officials say a man with a
semi-automatic demanded an undisclosed
amount of money.

The suspect was described as
having cotton balls in his mouth and
nose and was approximately 5 foot 8 and
160 pounds.

will curb purse snatchings, car

on his bike for less than an hour when
he helped catch a vehicle hit and run

According to a new study.. either route
will work to ease the pain and
discomfort.

13 U-S hospitals participated in the
study.. which included 12-hundred
patients.

Based on patients' responses, surgery
tended to provide somewhat more relief
than physical therapy, especially at
first.. however the difference was not
statistically significant and narrowed
over time.

Tiny babies who have to fight for their
lives from the beginning.. may be up
against a long-term fight too.

According to a study from the
Netherlands, very preterm or very low
birth weight children are more likely
to have behavioral and emotional
problems.

The researchers studied five-year-olds
starting school.. they found the
largest differences in preemies were
for social and attention problems.

It's not too late to get a flu shot..
but you can't procrastinate much
longer.

It takes two weeks for the shot to take
effect.. and flu season starts in late
December.. and usually peaking in
February.

Children under age 9 who are getting
their first flu shot actually need two
doses given at least four weeks apart.

A chain-reaction crash in
Michigan turns deadly the day after
Thanksgiving, and the weather is to
blame.

VO NAT One person is dead after a crash
that closed I-275 near where it meets
I-75 in southern Michigan.

Police say a single car crashed
in the northbound lanes of the highway.
A couple of other cars slid into it,
and then a tractor-trailer hit them.
The truck overturned, crushing a couple
of cars.

The driver of one of those cars
was killed.

Temperatures below freezing
combined with overnight fog left "black

ice" on roads and overpasses.

VO NAT A falling tree struck a pickup
truck on I-90 in Washington State,
killing the driver and front-seat
passenger. Two others passengers were
not injured.

Police say the tree was large... more
than 100 feet tall and two-or-three
feet in diameter at the base.

Snow was on the ground at the time
could have softened the soil, but there
were no strong winds at the time.

despite the government's efforts to
curtail the violence by banning cars
and pedestrains on the streets and
closing the international airport.

Attacks on Friday in the northern city
of Tal Afar killed at least 23 people
and wounded dozens of others. According
to police explosive hidden in a parked
car and inside a suicide belt worn by a

vanished Wednesday from a wooded area
in Red Lake, Minnesota.

So far there have been no signs of 4
year Tristan White and his two-year-old
brother Avery Stately.

Their parents say they were last seen
playing in a yard on the Red Lake
Indian Reservation. Family members say
they are preparing for the worst
because of the cold weather. They are
asking anyone who may have seen the
boys to come forward. The F-B-I is
offering a 20-thousand dollar reward.
Authorities are still not sure if the
boys wandered off into the woods or
were taken.

investigating an internet ad found on
Craig's list.

VO-NAT The ad offered to give away a baby boy

for free to a good home. Police are not
sure if it's real or just a very bad
joke. The ad was posted on Thanksgiving
morning and included a picture of the
baby. The ad read the baby just sits in
the closet and cries. It goes on to say
there are no baby accessories and no
returns.The father even offers to
deliver the baby.

The posting was deleted by Thursday
afternoon but officials are taking it
seriously.
