According to Consumer Reports, over
half of those surveyed said they
received a gift card last year.
But only half of those
receiving-the-cards actually used them.
It's estimated that over
23-million Americans have not spent a
gift card they received last year.
Most stores have changed their
policies in recent years so gift cards,
generally speaking, no longer have
expiration dates or lose value if not
used.
A popular choice among those
giving gift cards is one that's good
for a number of retailers.
Of all of the local options for
gift cards, the only one that loses
value is the CBL Malls gift card sold
through Valley View Mall in Roanoke.
It's accepted at nearly every
store in the mall and does not decrease
in value in the first year.

According to Valley View's
website, "You may leave Available Funds
on the Gift Card as long as you wish.
Subject to applicable law, we may
deduct a monthly Service Fee of $2.00,
which we agree to waive for the first
12 months after the purchase date."
(END GFX) (END GFX)
TAKE FS GFX TAKE FS GFX
There are other gift card service
fees if misfortune strikes.
CBL charges a Replacement Fee of
$5.95 if a gift card is lost or stolen.
If the "valid thru" date runs
out, the funds are still good. They do
not expire, but there is a card
Reissuance Fee of $5.95.
Also, you may request a check for
the amount of any available funds.
But CBL does reserve the right to
charge a Check-issuance Fee of $10.

An interesting note, among the
people surveyed, the most disappointing
gift received in 2005 was socks.

According to Consumer Reports, over
half of those surveyed said they
received a gift card last year.
But only half of those
receiving-the-cards actually used them.
It's estimated that over
23-million Americans have not spent a
gift card they received last year.
Most stores have changed their
policies in recent years so gift cards,
generally speaking, no longer have
expiration dates or lose value if not
used.
A popular choice among those
giving gift cards is one that's good
for a number of retailers.
Of all of the local options for
gift cards, the only one that loses
value is the CBL Malls gift card sold
through Valley View Mall in Roanoke.
It's accepted at nearly every
store in the mall and does not decrease
in value in the first year.

According to Valley View's
website, "You may leave Available Funds
on the Gift Card as long as you wish.
Subject to applicable law, we may
deduct a monthly Service Fee of $2.00,
which we agree to waive for the first
12 months after the purchase date."

TAKE FS GFX TAKE FS GFX
There are other gift card service
fees if misfortune strikes.
CBL charges a Replacement Fee of
$5.95 if a gift card is lost or stolen.
If the "valid thru" date runs
out, the funds are still good. They do
not expire, but there is a card
Reissuance Fee of $5.95.
Also, you may request a check for
the amount of any available funds.
But CBL does reserve the right to
charge a Check-issuance Fee of $10.

An interesting note, among the
