Roanoke has decided NOT to renew its
contract with the health care provider.

about their future with Carilion now
that it's becoming a clinic.

They're worried they'll be forced
to join or be shut out of the system.

That's why most of the
radiologists have decided, as of March
1st, they will no longer work

Lewis-Gale Medical Center as well.

Three of them are leaving
Carilion all together.

Corporal Eric Sutphin.

Eric, as you may remember, was gunned
down in the line of duty back in

Tonight, the Mental Health
Association of the New River Valley
presented Eric Sutphin's family and
colleagues with a special framed
tribute.

The organization also renamed its
officer of the year award in honor of
Corporal Sutphin, an officer who was
well known and liked in the mental
health community.

The award was especially meaningful
because the person who received it knew
Eric and his reputation.

hurricane season that officially ends
today.

After suffering through two years of
deadly hurricanes, it appeared another
season of doom and gloom was on the
horizon.

It turned out, there were only five
hurricanes and not one struck the
United States in 2006.

Experts say they got it wrong for
two reasons. The first...is there was a
lot more dry air at the surface over
the Atlantic which kind of prohibited
the storms to form. And the second
reason is an unexpected El Nino weather
pattern tore up systems before they
could even turn into hurricanes.

his Greenfield Drive apartment on
September 24th.

Police say Beard resisted arrest
and had to be pepper sprayed ...

Beard's friends and family say he was

Court Street Baptist Church.

They heard more details about the
case and were shown photos of what
minority leaders say is a blood stain
on the wall of Beard's apartment.

Civil rights activists plan to
renew their call for the federal
Department of Justice to step in.

A State Police investigation into
Beard's death has not been completed.

altercation in court this morning.

It happened in September when a

crowd had gathered on Draper Road after
the bars closed.

Police arrived and saw Morgan
punch the window of a passing truck.

Southern's plans to build a rail
center.

was riding in was struck head on by a
minivan.

Police say the van crossed the
center line.

Greg Neil, another passenger in
the car died yesterday.

His daughter 16 year-old Tiffany
Wright was at the wheel and is in
stable condition.

The other passenger in the car,
Theresa Neil is still in critical
condition.

Police have charged the driver of
the minivan, Robert Gene Barker with
D-U-I.

More charges are pending.

weekend.

Virginia State Police have
brought back Operation Land, Air and
Speed for the fourth time this year.
Troopers have targeted various portions
of several interstates throughout the
year.

Troopers will concentrate on I-95
and I-81 today and tomorrow with extra
patrols and aerial speed enforcement.

The state police superintendent
says the crackdown is necessary to keep
road safety a priority as traffic picks
up for the holidays.

Atlanta....school leaders say it was a
last resort.

confrontation between a boy and a girl.

The two were taken to prinicpal's
office where the boy attacked the girl
again. That's when a resource officer
used the taser gun on the boy.

But still it didn't stop, the boy
got up and again went after the girl so
the officer tasered him again.

Administrators are defending the
action as absolutely necessary.

attention in Katy, Texas...

It has to due with an Islamic group
wanting to move a mosque into a
residential neigborhood. The homeowners
say it's unwelcome and one man is even
holding pig races on his property
that's nearby the site. The group calls

the races a slap in the face since the
meat of a pig is prohibited in their
religion.

But the farmer says his family has
lived on his land for years, and he can
do what he wants on it.

He adds, just one week after the
group bought the land they suggested he
leave. A claim the group denies.

with each other in Detroit. The
Chippewas Jumped out on top in this one
thanks to the 71 yard Touchdown pass to

Central Michigan gos on to win by a
score of 31 to 10 and win the Mid
American Conference Title.

raise from the University of the
Virginia for taking the Cavaliers to
the Music City Bowl. The Wahoos did
not qualify for a Bowl this season for
the first time in 5 Seasons after
finishing 5 and 7.

has decided not to exercise and option
on Groh's contract. The decision had a
December deadline and was done so by
Athletic Director Craig Littlepage who
said they university has higher

dollars a year.

the Dudley Award. The Finalists were
announced and the Dudley doesn't forget
about the Small Schools. The 2 players
from the Division 2, 3, and N-A-I-A
level up for the award are Mark Snoddy
of Washington and Lee and Ra'shad
Morgan of U-V-A Wise are the finalists.

the D-1 and one Double "A" ranks. They
are Vince Hall from Virginia Tech. The
Junior Linebacker led the Hokies to a

From U-V-A, Chris Long is up for
the Award. Long a Junior Defensive End
had 4 and half Sacks this season and
over 50 Tackles for a 5 and 7 Wahoo
Team.

Armed with umbrellas, onlookers
watched as holiday floats, several high
school marching bands and even speed

entries at this year's event. The
parade is put on by the Vinton Chamber
of Commerce and is one of the first
parades in the valley to kick off the
