Eric Sutphin.
Eric, as you may remember, was gunned
down in the line of duty in August.

Association of the New River Valley
presented Eric Sutphin's
family-and-colleagues with a special
framed-tribute.
The organization also renamed its
officer of the year award in honor of
Corporal Sutphin, an officer who was
well known and liked in the mental
health community.
The award was especially meaningful
because the person who received it knew
Eric and his reputation.

Buckland claims it's

contract with the company expired one
minute after midnight.
For now at least, they are still

call a strike at any time.
Should there be a walkout, it
could have a significant economic
impact on the Alleghany Highlands

brought back Operation Land, Air and
Speed for the fourth time this year.
Troopers have targeted various
portions of several interstates
throughout the year.
They will concentrate on I-95 and

says the crackdown is necessary to keep

Police say the van crossed the
center line.
Greg Neil, another passenger in
the car died Wednesday.

Theresa Neil is still in critical
condition.
Police have charged the driver of
the minivan, Robert Gene Barker with
D-U-I.

update on Norfolk Southern's plans to
build a rail center.

18 million dollar intermodal freight
yard.
Norfolk Southern was planning to
build the center in the Elliston area.
But the railroad says it is also

good-byes yesterday for a teenager
killed Sunday in Franklin County.

died after the car he was riding in was
struck head on by a minivan.
Police say the van crossed the
center line.
Greg Neil, another passenger in
the car died Wednesday.
His daughter 16-year-old Tiffany

stable condition.
The other passenger in the car,
Theresa Neil is still in critical
condition.

power outtage.

without its one-man police department.
Rich Creek Chief Kevin Buckland
said he was asked by town council to
resign...and when he refused he was
fired.
Mayor Darlene French had no
comment on the matter.

The contract deadline is up at
MeadWestvaco. The Steelworkers Union
represents 966 MeadWestvaco employees
in Covington and their contract with
the company expired one minute after
midnight.
For now at least, they are still on the
job as talks continue.

brought back Operation Land, Air and
Speed for the fourth time this year.
Troopers will concentrate on I-95 and
