GRAPHIC=Murder Investigation The Henry County Sheriff's office is

investigating what appears to be a
murder, a second shooting and a suicide
in the Dyers Store area of the County.

Investigators believe 90-year-old
Howard McClendon used a handgun to
fatally shoot his 85 year old wife
Lelia. He alledgedly fired another shot
at his 49 year old daughter, Devra
Carolyn Murrell. She's in critical
condition at a Winston-Salem hospital.
Investigators say Howard McClendon then
turned the gun on himself.

No word yet on what may have led to the
shootings.

GRAPHIC=NORFOLK SOUTHERN This week Norfolk Southern

announced it's considering more sites
in the Roanoke area for an intermodal

facility that would move trucks from

trains onto the highway.

*CG locator Montgomery Co.

The original site being
considered was in the Elliston area of
Montgomery County, but many residents
and public officials there have voiced
objections.

Now the company is looking at
nine other sites in the Roanoke Valley.

Two of them are in Roanoke, and
another is near Colorado Street along
the railroad's main lines in Salem.

achaney@wdbj7.com Well, Hollani, there are opinions
on both sides.

Some see this as a possible
benefit to the area.

Whereas others say the drawbacks
would out weigh any positive that could
come as a result of an Intermodal
facility possibly ending up in Salem.
