GRAPHIC=Iraq The long awaited recommendations

from the Iraq Study Group have finally
been released.

The bi-partisan report gives a
grim-assessment of the war and

recommends a withdrawal of U-S

The report also calls for intense
talks with Iran and Syria.

THE PROBLEM IN IRAQ... BUT SOMETHING
MUST BE DONE.

(SOT - JAMES BAKER/IRAQ STUDY GROUP

TBD

THE BI-PARTISAN COMMISSION RELEASED ITS
FINAL REPORT TODAY CALLED "THE

WAY FORWARD". IT PAINTS A GRIM PICTURE

OF THE SITUATION ON THE GROUND.

HERE'S SOME OF WHAT THE GROUP
SUGGESTED:

(GRAPHICS IN)

- GRADUALLY SHIFT THE MISSION OF U-S
TROOPS IN IRAQ FROM COMBAT - TO

TRAINING... WITH THE GOAL OF PULLING
BACK U-S TROOPS BY EARLY 2008.

- BEGIN A MORE INTENSE DIPLOMATIC PUSH
TO GET IRAQ'S NEIGHBORS INVOLVED

IN ENDING THE VIOLENCE. THAT WOULD
INCLUDE REACHING OUT TO IRAN AND

SYRIA.

(GRAPHICS OUT)

(STANDUP BRIDGE: Aleen Sirgany / CBS
NEWS / THE WHITE HOUSE) - "THAT'S

IN STARK CONTRAST TO WHAT THE PRESIDENT
HAS LAID OUT. HE HAS SAID TIME

AND TIME AGAIN -- HE WILL NOT SET A
TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAWING U-S

TROOPS. AND HE HAS FLAT OUT REJECTED
CALLS FOR TALKS WITH IRAN AND SYRIA"

BUT -- MISTER BUSH SAYS HE'LL READ THE
RECOMMENDATIONS CAREFULLY.

( SOT: President Bush) - "this report

will give us all an opportunity to

find common ground for the good of the
country -- not for the good of

the Republican Party or the Democrat
Party but for the good of the

country."

GROUP MEMBERS ALSO DELIVERED THEIR
RECOMMENDATIONS TO LAWMAKERS TODAY...

WHO CHARTERED THE IRAQ STUDY GROUP
8-MONTHS AGO.

THIS REPORT IS JUST ONE OF SEVERAL
STUDIES ON IRAQ THAT PRESIDENT BUSH

WILL REVIEW.. BUT IN THE END THE
COMMANDER IN CHIEF WILL MAKE THE FINAL

DECISIONS. ALEEN SIRGANY, News 7.

the credit card and get on ebay, it may
be too late to get tickets for the
Chick Fil A bowl.

Officials at the bowl in Atlanta
announced yesterday that this year's
game between Virginia Tech and Georiga
is now a complete sell-out.

Both the Hokies and Bulldogs
asked for 18-thousand five-hundred
tickets a piece, and each school sold
that allottment in one day.

More than 75 thousand fans are

expected to be on hand in the Georgia
Dome.

And there is a good chance it
could be a record-crowd, breaking the
previous mark of just over 75 thousand
set in 2003 when Clemson played
Tennessee.
