criminal defendants in Henry County.

Thanks to the FEDERAL
racketeering probe of the County
Sheriff's department, the county
prosecutor has decided he cannot pursue
charges against more than two dozen
different suspects.

Commonwealth's Attorney Bob
Bushnell says the list of cases
includes 16 pending felony drug
charges.

Bushnell says he "determined that these
charges could not be effectively
prosecuted without the testimony" of
deputies now under indictment.

A dozen sheriff's department
officials were indicted by a federal
Grand jury in October- -mostly for
stealing drugs from the property room
and re-selling them on the street.
