home in the Camp Mitchell area of Craig
County at around 5:30 yesterday
evening.

He ventured off into the woods
with his dog.

Search crews brought in a state
police chopper with heat sensing
technology to locate the child.

He was found a thousand yards
from his home.

Mountain Pass Road in Botetourt County
sent six people to the hospital.

It happened yesterday at the
intersection of Barkwood drive, near

the Stratford sub-division.

Several people were taken to the
hospital - including a nine year old
girl, and three people under 18.

year old Ashley Hall cut in front of a
truck driven by 37 year old Lori Ann
Whalen.

Hall was airlifted out -- three
of her passengers were taken to the
hospital, along with Whalen and her
daughter.

Hall's been charged with driving
on a suspended license and failure to
yeild the right of way.

near Ferrum is recovering at an animal
hospital.

tested and found to be in good shape...
except for the broken left fore-arm.

It's unclear what will become of
the dog taken from Nancy Felter's home.

She has about 50 animals, and a
search warrant filed yesterday
indicates conditions there are
deplorable.

It lists 11 animals- -dead or
decomposed- -many of which were found
INSIDE the house.

ten years behind bars for shooting and
killing 20-year-old Robert Meadows.

VO-NAT Yesterday, a judge convicted


William Mack Hayslett of voluntary
manslaughter, down from the original

charge of murder.

*CG locator Roanoke Hayslett and Meadows got into an July argument outside Hayslett's house on
Ninth Street in Southeast Roanoke.

Eventually, it spiraled into a
shooting with both sides firing.

Sentencing is scheduled for next
February when Hayslett could get the
maximum penalty of ten years in prison.

interstate is now in federal hands.

The Federal Highway
Administration is reviewing the final
Interstate-73 environmental impact

statement and could make a final
decision on the plan by March.

If it's built, I-73 would run
from Detroit to Myrtle Beach, cutting
through the Roanoke Valley, and
Franklin and Henry Counties.

Hidden Valley Middle School.

in Blacksburg.

are charged with grand larceny, felony
destruction of property and obstructing
an officer.

Blacksburg Police got a call just
after 2 o'clock Sunday morning.

The caller said the Hokie Bird
statue in front of the Moog Components
Group was vandalized and taken into a
nearby apartment.

About a dozen of the birds have
been vandalized over the past few
months, but this is the first arrest in

the case.

Nativity story to life in a big way
this year.

For the past fourteen years, the
Heritage Church has held a live
nativity on its property but the crowds
got so big, the church decided to move
it to the New River Valley Fairgrounds.

This year's production has more
scenes and even includes clips from the
new movie called "the Nativity Story."

Church Members do this every year
as a way to give back to the community
and to remind the public of what
Christians believe is the real reason
for the season.
