an officer.
Blacksburg Police got a call just
after 2 o'clock Sunday morning.
The caller said the Hokie Bird
statue in front of the Moog Components
Group was vandalized and taken into a
nearby apartment.
About a dozen of the birds had
been vandalized over the past few
months, but this is the first arrest in
the case.

On December 7, 19-41, some 360
Japanese warplanes attacked the home
base of the U-S Pacific fleet located
at Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian Island
of Oahu.
Within two hours of the attack,
the Japanese planes hit, sunk or
severely damaged eight U-S battleships
including the Arizona and fourteen
smaller ships.
Two-hundred aircraft were
destroyed and over 2-thousand sea-men
were killed.
The following day Congress
declared war against Japan with only
one dissenting vote.

today on James Kim, the man who had
been stranded in the Oregon mountains.

found the body of the missing
35-year-old less than a mile from his
family's car.
On Saturday, Kim had set out on
foot looking for help.
According to officials, he

yesterday claimed the lives of two
young boys.

Neighbors say they heard screams
coming from a house in a low-income
housing project in Muskogee.
The Fire Department arrived a
short-time later, but was unable to
save the 3-year-old and 5-year-old boys
trapped in the burning house.
The twin of the 5-year old victim
suffered no injuries, because he was in
school when the fire started.
According to witnesses, the boys'
father was burned while trying to get
back inside and rescue his sons.

nativity on its property but the crowds
got so big, the church decided to move
it to the New River Valley Fairgrounds.
This year's production has more

The Federal Highway
Administration is now reviewing the
final Interstate-73 environmental
impact statement and could make a final
decision on the plan by March.
If it's built, I-73 would run

Flea Market, when Debbie Mohler
(MO-ler) delivered the guitar to Jimmy
Meador (MED-er).
Meador has played the 1952 Martin
D-28 for more than 50 years, but on
Saturday he left it behind as he was
leaving a jam session.
Mohler caught our story on the
missing guitar, and tracked him down.
Meador says its return is "a real
blessing."

On December 7, 19-41, some 360
Japanese warplanes attacked the home
base of the U-S Pacific fleet located
at Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian Island
of Oahu.
Within two hours of the attack,
the Japanese planes hit, sunk or
severely damaged eight U-S battleships
including the Arizona and fourteen
smaller ships.
Two-hundred aircraft were
destroyed and over 2-thousand sea-men
were killed.
The following day Congress
declared war against Japan with only
one dissenting vote.

the Nativity Story in a very big way
this year.

Heritage Church has held a live
nativity on its property but the crowds
got so big, the church decided to move
it to the New River Valley Fairgrounds.
This year's production has more
scenes and even includes clips from the
new movie called "the Nativity Story."
Church Members do this ever year as a
way to give back to the community and
to remind the public of what Christians
believe is the real reason for the
season.

Mountain Pass Road in Botetourt County.

been stranded in the Oregon mountains.

found the body of the missing
35-year-old less than a mile from his
family's car.
On Saturday, Kim had set out on
foot looking for help.
According to officials, he
covered over eight miles and appeared

yesterday claimed the lives of two
young boys.

Neighbors say they heard screams
coming from a house in a low-income
housing project in Muskogee.
The Fire Department arrived a
short-time later, but was unable to
save the 3-year-old and 5-year-old boys
trapped in the burning house.
The twin of the 5-year old victim
suffered no injuries, because he was in
school when the fire started.
According to witnesses, the boys'
father was burned while trying to get
back inside and rescue his sons.
