:00 Christiansburg Police says the
accident happened just after noon today
at the future Aquatic Center site off
of Depot Street.

A heavy piece of equipment used
for compacting dirt--- rolled down a 30

foot embankment.

The operator, 57 year-old Douglas
King of Pembroke was thrown from the
driver's seat and the machinery then
rolled over him.

Police say he was transported to
Montgomery Regional Hospital where he
later died from his injuries.

OSHA is investigating.

U.S. Attorney agreed to drop five other
charges.

Martin faces up to forty years in

City filed a federal lawsuit against
gun shops in five states, authorities
are taking aim once again.

VO-NAT A new lawsuit targets a dozen gun

dealers including Town and Country Pawn
Shop in Roanoke, and Franklin Rod and
Gun in Rocky Mount.

Last Spring, the city sent
investigators into the stores and
recorded their visits with hidden
cameras.

They say clerks allowed "straw
purchases" in which one person picked
out a handgun, and another filled out
the forms and completed the
transaction.

wind... but no clear cause of a plane
crash in Halifax County.

A preliminary report from the
National Transportation Safety Board is

out, but there are still a lot of
unanswered questions.

October James Michael Williams was killed
when his amateur-built plane crashed
near the Halifax-Pittsylvania County
line.

Witnesses told investigators
Williams was trying to land at an
ultra-light field, when the plane
appeared to be blown offf course and
crashed in a wooded area.

The wreckage was found two days
later.

The N-T-S-B says Williams did
have a private pilot certificate, and
reported 300 hours of flight time.

The weather at the time of the
crash was foggy with five- mile
visibilty.

man killed in a corporate jet crash has
reportedly settled with two
Richmond-based companies.

February 2005 In February 2005, Kyle Harmon, a
Cave Spring graduate was one of eight
killed in the Colorado plane crash.

The Circuit City corporate jet
was on its way from Richmond to Santa
Ana, California.

Last month, documents about the
settlement were filed in Roanoke County
Circuit Court.

Circuit City and and the company
who managed the plane, Richmond based
Martinair Incorporated agreed to pay
three point five million dollars to
Angela Harmon. The settlement was
reached out of court.

were going buts when it looked like
their successful head coach Rich
Rodrguez was leaving for Alabama big
big bucks.

But this afternoon - Rodriguez
turned the tables on the SEC and
announced that he had decided to stay
at WVU.

six-year $12 million dollar contract to
take over as the Crimson Tide's head
coach.

The offer was made yesterday, but
this afternoon at 3, Rodriguez told his
players that he had decdied to stay in
Morgantown.

Of course, West Virginia will

have to pay to keep him. Athletic
officials have confirmed that Rodriguez
will get a new contract for staying.

West Virginia plays Ga. Tech in
the Gator Bowl.

this year's event, not to mention the
thousands who lined the streets to
watch the parade which lasted more than
a hour.

This year's theme was "holiday
traditions through the ages."

Awards were given out to the group's
that best displayed that theme.

Friday with a pet costume contest and
the showing of an outdoor holiday
movie.
