Louisa vs. Amherst Co. Last week in the State :00 Semi-Final, Amherst rolled up 61 points
on their way to a victory, and was
looking for a repeat performance.

Scott Abell's club wasted no time
getting started, Alzono Poe would score
from in close and Amherst was up 6 to
nothing.

Louisa would come back,
Quarterback Jeff Mehlhaff goes around
the right side, will make a nice move
to get by Poe and take it the rest of
the way to the house. Game was all
tied up at 6.

Amherst has a loaded backfield
though. Jonathan Rose will bust one
loose and take it down inside the 5.
That would set up a Quarterback sneak
and the Lancers were back on top.

After Louisa scored to take the
lead by 1. Poe busted off a long one.
He will score from 60 yards out. Poe
rambled for over a hundred and 20 yards
on the day. Amherst would take a 7
point lead into halftime.

After the break, The Lancers
went to the air. Peter Rose goes up
top Ashton Paige who wins the wrestling
match for the ball. He'll get to the
endzone from 57 yards out and the lead
was up to 13.

Peter Rose would polish of the
scoring for Amherst with the Touchdown

from in close, one of 2 scores on the
ground for the Junior Quarterback.

The Lancers win 34 to 27 over
Louisa, as Coach Abell gets the bath
that even feels good on a cool night,

"A" Division 4 State Champions. The
second title in School History.

< North on the second Saturday in
December.

The Spartan faithful wouldn't
have to wait long for some excitemen,
as Andrew Fenstermaker runs it in from
2 yards out and it was 7-oh Spartans in
the first quarter.

But the Bulldogs answered as
Brian Jordan hands to DJ Coles on a 4th
down and 6. Coles made some nifty
moves down the far sideline and crosses
the goal line on a 28 yard score to tie
the game at 7.

Giles and the single wing got

the rock back and went right to work.
Fenstermaker caps a 12 play, 65 yard
drive with his 2nd TD of the game to
put Giles back in front.

But Steve Ragsdale's team
played some defense as well. Kurt
Marcussen drags Jordan down for a 7
yard loss on the sack to close out the
first half.

After the break though,
momentum shifted. In the shadow of his
own endzone, Nathan Tanner hits Evan
Litgard in the numbers, but it bounces
off Litgard and Michael Ware picked off
the pass taking it all the way down to
the Giles 5 yard line.

Three plays later, Jordan pops
it in for 6 and it was 14-all after the
PAT.

Goochland turned it on.
Coles runs up the gut for 17 yards to
seal the deal in the 4th quarter. The
Bulldogs scored 21 unanswered points in
the second half to win it 28 to 14.
