was killed when work at a construction
site went terribly wrong.

:00 Christiansburg Police said the
accident happened just after noon
yesterday at the future Aquatic Center
site off of Depot Street.

A heavy piece of equipment used
for compacting dirt--- rolled down a 30

foot embankment.

The operator, 57-year-old Douglas
King of Pembroke was thrown from the
driver seat and the machinery rolled
over him.

Police said he was transported to
Montgomery Regional Hospital where he
later died from his injuries.

OSHA is investigating.

armed robber in Danville.

Police say the robbery happened
at the White Swann Laundry on South
Main Street at around 5:30 last night.

The suspect is described as a
black male in his twenties, wearing a
red stocking cap and black coat.

No one was injured during this
incident.

GRAPHIC=SHOOTING Police in Danville have charged a

juvenile with shooting a man in the
face earlier this week.

It happened on Tuesday, and
police say the victim will be O-K.

Yesterday, a SWAT team surrounded
the 17-year-old's house and made the
arrest.

The teen faces three charges
including aggravated malicious
wounding.

Because of his age, police are
not releasing his name.

He has been taken to W-W
Detention Home.

the flow of illegal guns, is targeting
more gun dealers in western Virginia.

VO-NAT Town and Country Pawn Shop on

Williamson Road in Roanoke, and
Franklin Rod and Gun in Rocky Mount are
both named in the latest lawsuit.

Last Spring, investigators went
to gun shops in several states, and
recorded their visits with hidden
cameras.

They say in a dozen cases, clerks
allowed straw purchases in which one
person picked out a handgun, and
another filled out the forms and
completed the transaction.

for the foundation of the Freedom

The recent cold snap doesn't stop
here! The cold air continues even
farther south!

It was so cold Thursday night in
Greenville, South Carolina, an
*outside* hotel water fountain looked
like a chandelier *inside* the hotel
ballroom.

The sub-freezing conditions froze
the water in the fountain into
sparkling ice crystals that shined in
the bright morning sun.

The thermometer dipped down to
19-degrees by Friday morning and the
same is expected this morning.

In Jacksonville, FL yesterday
afternoon temperatures had only gotten
into the mid-forties - and forecasters
expected to shatter record lows by this
morning. Temperatures are in the
twenties and teens this morning in
north Georgia.

Residents were urged to bring in
pets last night and cover or move
sensitive plants indoors.

In addition, people are being
cautioned to wrap exposed pipes or let
faucets run.

in a fire at a drug treatment hospital
in Moscow.

figure out what led a man to open fire
inside a Chicago law office yesterday
killing three people.

The man asked for a certain person
before chaining the doors shut. He then
opened fire shooting four people before
a police sniper killed him. Police say
