currently working a brush fire that
started overnight.

The fire is said to be on Pera
and Hercules roads in the Peavine
Mountain section of Amherst.

GRAPHIC=Plane Crash A pilot is dead after a


single-engine plane crashed while
approaching the
Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport
yesterday.

Police haven't yet released the
man's identity.

A state trooper says the
six-seater Piper Lance was headed to
the airport from Chesterfield County.

The plane had been cleared for
landing when the pilot radioed the
Charlottesville control tower reporting
engine problems.

Authorities say that he attempted
to make an emergency landing but
crashed into a wooded area.

sent a Danville man to the hospital.

He said he had been stabbed with
a knife.

Police say the injury was not
life-threatening.

jacket, gray shirt, and khaki pants.

World is ready to hit the water.

The 50-foot Discovery will be
officially launched today from a Maine
shipyard. It will sail to Jamestown
next month.

Meanwhile, tickets are now on
sale for the Jamestown 2007 Anniversary
weekend.

"bottled up."

of recycled soda bottles-- and as you
see - it lights up.

A homeowner over in Roanoke
County spent several weeks off and on
using around 900 Sprite and Fresca
bottles.

He says he drank most of the soda
himself.

And you better believe he made
plenty of trips to the bathroom, since
the tree stands at about 13 feet.
