On the heels of a week packed with
debate about a new strategy in Iraq..

President Bush embarks on another week
full of briefings and meetings on

the war.

His first session is at the state
department today.. followed by a White

House sit down with historians and
former generals.

This week Mr. Bush is also getting
input from senior military commanders

in Iraq.. and officials at the
Pentagon.

The president is under pressure to put
out a new war plan and fast..

hes weighing options that include an
overhauled approach to dealing

with Iraqs warring factions and a
short-term build-up of US troops.

The administration already has in hand
79 recommendations from the

bi-partisan Iraq Study Group. Chairmen
James Baker and Lee Hamilton

defended their report Sunday..

(Lee Hamilton, Iraq Study Group
Co-Chairman) (Courtesy: Face The

Nation)

HAMILTON: 10:36:25 Look, every general,
including General Chiarelli just

yesterday, has pointed out that you
cannot solve this problem with

military force, that you have to get a
political solution.

In Iraq deadly car bombs and sectarian
killings served as a reminder of

the situations urgency.. while the
Iraqi President weighed in on the

Study Groups report.

(Jalal Talabani, Iraqi President)

TALABANI 11:34:00 I think that
Baker-Hamilton is not fair, is not just

Jalal Talabanis sharp criticism of the
groups recommendations came as

out-going defense secretary Donald
Rumsfeld said goodbye to u-s troops

in Iraq and warned that the
consequences of failure there would be

unacceptable.

CLOSE: Now Iraqi lawmakers say there is
a movement a foot to oust Prime

Minister Nouri al-Maliki. He faces

growing opposition over his

governments inability to quell the
violence Susan Roberts, News 7.

"Multiple times I have been crossing

A new intermodal rail terminal may be

Our story on Pulaski's Christmas Parade
and efforts to keep the Ku Klux Klan
out of it got a lot of "bah humbugs,"
including one from the town manager.

"...your station chose to focus on an

incident that occurred in last years
parade in which the KKK was involved,"
wrote John Hawley. "While we were not
pleased with the situation, we
addressed the issue at that time.
Rather than allowing the activities of
this group to divide our community, we
took measures to ensure that this event
would not occur again. In the future,
we hope that Channel 7 will focus on
the positive strides our community has
made and continues to make, rather than
sensationalizing the past activities of
persons not affiliated with our Town."

Cooler temperatures are bringing
some relief to those battling massive
brushfires, which have been burning for
several days.

But officials warn the fires could
still burn for months.

They say firefighters only have a
couple of days to prepare before
temperatures once again hit record
highs later this week

After this weekend's lift- off,
engineers and astronauts did not detect
any damage to the shuttle's heat
shield.

NASA technicians weren't able to
produce the same photos they have for

the last three shuttle launches,
because Discovery blasted off in the
dark.

Discovery is scheduled to link up
with the space station later today.
