pedestrians safe, but one Tech student
thinks it's often the pedestrians
themselves that are the danger.
"One thing I feel was not addressed
very well in the story was education of
the pedestrians," Hanna Mabe said.
"Multiple times I have been crossing
the street or driving on the street and
seen pedestrians walk into the road
without looking to see if any vehicles
are coming."
A new intermodal rail terminal may be
coming to the Roanoke Valley... and
while some residents would rather see
it move on down the line, a viewer from
the New River Valley hopes it stops
there.
Sue Tolley wrote "Hey, if Salem doesn't
want this business opportunity...
please ask that Pulaski County be
looked into! We are starving for jobs
out there and have I-81 running right
though us too."

Our story on Pulaski's Christmas Parade
and efforts to keep the Ku Klux Klan
out of it got a lot of "bah humbugs,"
including one from the town manager.
"...your station chose to focus on an
incident that occurred in last years
parade in which the KKK was involved,"
wrote John Hawley. "While we were not
pleased with the situation, we
addressed the issue at that time.
Rather than allowing the activities of
this group to divide our community, we
took measures to ensure that this event
would not occur again. In the future,
we hope that Channel 7 will focus on
the positive strides our community has
made and continues to make, rather than
sensationalizing the past activities of
persons not affiliated with our Town."

Saint Nick was the big draw this
weekend at a wildlife museum in
Missouri.
He added a scuba mask to his
trademark red suit and hat, as he swam
around in about 140-thousand gallons of
waters.
And Santa wasn't the only big guy in
the tank-- Some fish weighed more than
85 pounds.
It was educational for kids-- Santa's
elf talked about the type of fish
Santa was feeding.
Santa plans to keep his sea legs
every weekend through Christmas.
