GRAPHIC=WILDFIRE Crews are still working to contain
the fire that has already burned
hundreds of acres in Amherst County.

The fire near Peavine Mountain was
reported around 11 Sunday night.
Authorities say three separate
fires have scorched more than 500 acres
in the area between Pera Road and
Hercules Road ... not far from the Blue
Ridge Parkway.
More than fifty firefighters have
been called in to help ... they spent
yesterday digging containment lines and
setting back fires- and more help is on
the way.
The fire is in a remote section of
the George Washington National Forest,
and officials say while some roads have
been closed, no homes are in danger.

left a Wythe County teenager dead.

State Police say 17 year-old
Roger Lee Grubb the second, of
Wytheville was driving on Aker Road in
the Fairview section of the county when
his car ran off the right side of the
road.
It hit an embankment and burst
into flames.

Postmaster who admitted to
misappropriating funds has avoided a
prison sentence.

September 11 Valerie Crouse pled guilty three
months ago, and was sentenced
yesterday.
The 58-year old defendant retired
from the Postal Service... long before
she was indicted in April.
Crouse admitted taking funds that
were intended for postal workers at the
Cave Spring Branch ...five times over a
three year period.

New rules requiring sex offenders
to register their e-mail address - just
like they do their mailing address -
could be on the way.

Attorney General Bob McDonnell is
behind the legislation - which would be
the first of its kind *IF* passed.
By registering convicted sex
offenders in a statewide e-mail
database, sites like MySpace could have
access to the addresses and boot
criminals off their pages permanently.
MySpace execs say they do plan to
back the bill 100 percent.

.....According to a
post-mortem report...it was the kidney
condition she had been battling for
years.

For years she had been battling a
kidney condition and arthritis in her
shoulder.
Since the spring her weight had

and his wife, Hong Le, have welcomed a
daughter into the family.
Georgia LeAnh was born just
before one o'clock yesterday morning at
a hospital in Fairfax.
Georgia's name comes from a
combination of Webb's grandmother, and
Hong's Vietnamese family name, and a
common Vietnamese middle name.
She joins Hong's daughter Emily
and Webb's four other children.
