About half of the seniors on the list
are still waiting on their gifts.
Organizers say the biggest problem is
people who have chosen a person but not
returned a gift. There are also more
than 200 seniors still waiting to be
picked.

Earlier this year, Lynchburg
revised its panhandling ordinance to
prohibit people from soliciting money
at intersections and from median
strips.

That put a crimp in the
Firefighters Association annual "Fill
the Boot" campaign that raises money
to fight muscular dystrophy.

Firefighters say they'll try to
meet with city leaders early next year,
seeking an exemption.

And, firefighters have a massive
wildfire in Amherst County about ninety
percent contained.

The fire on Peavine Mountain was

first reported around 11 o'clock Sunday
night.

More than 100 people were on the

Some of them will start heading home
today.
