Roanoke police are investigating
a shooting tonight that happened in the
Northwest part of the city late this

afternoon.

a disorder and possible shot fired.

When police arrived in the scene,
an officer tried to approach two
individuals who matched the description
of the suspects.

One person ran and the officer
followed him, and according to police
the other person fired shots at the
officer.

The officer was not hit by
gunfire, and did not draw his gun. At
this point there is one person in the
hospital.

with Vick for nearly 2 years.

January 2004 << She is the same underage girl who
says she had sex with Vick in his
apartment in January 2004.

That's the night that led to his
arrest and conviction for contributing

the delinquency of a minor.

You'll remember, Vick and two
other teammates gave three underage
girls alcohol and encouraged them to
strip.

The girl says after Vick's arrest
they continued to have sex even though
he was ordered not to have contact with
her.

The lawsuit contends Vick offered
her alcohol and marijuana at various
times and that the girl saw Vick
smoking pot.

She also alleges another Virginia
Tech football player offered up his
apartment so the pair could continue
having sex without the Blacksburg
Police Department finding out.

And she claims Vick asked her to
have sex with other men including
another Tech football player. >>

The Hokies booted Vick off the
team last January for his ON and OFF
the field behavior.

quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.

Vick has not yet responded to the
suit.

Rachel, didn't the teenager have
to testify against Vick when he was

RACHEL: She did K, and that may be a
hurdle in court. I remember her taking
the stand but invoking her fifth
amendment right and not saying
anything. Of course, this lawsuit
alleges she and Vick were still
secretly seeing each other at that
time.

grieving tonight after a loved one died
in a house fire.

Community saw the fire at around 9:00
and tried to save her, but he couldn't

someone deliberately set a fire that
scorched thousands of acres of forest
in Amherst County this week.

This Week It took 150 firefighters more than
three days to contain the fire on
Peavine Mountain near the Blue Ridge
Parkway.

Authorities say the blaze started
in several different areas and there is
no natural explanation for it, such as
a lightning strike.

Service.

board of supervisors sent a letter to
Richmond stating it was necessary to
keep that station open.

These changes will not affect
snow removal, should we get any this

trucks off Interstate 81.

House leaders remain opposed to
raising taxes to fund transportation,

but Kaine says he holds out hope a
long- term funding plan will be

for College Coaches and the work by
Virginia Tech has paid off at least in
the case of Cris Hill. The 5 foot 10
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back from
Highland Springs High School just
outside of Richmond verbally commited
to the Hokies today.

Hill had 30 offers, his decision
came down to Tech and Tennessee. He is

rated as a top 5 recruit in the state.

Saturday's championship rematch between
Wisconsin-Whitewater - and you guessed
it Mount Union.

This marks the 14th straight year
that the City of Salem has played host
to the D3 title game, and USA Today is
making sure people from one end of this
nation to other know all about it.

Both team hit the practice field
under balmy conditions shortly after
arriving in the valley.

Besides these workouts the
players will also visit with patients
at the V-A and some of tHe area's
elementary school students.

And speaking of students who also

are athletes - Jason Brehm dropped in
on the Salem Rotary Club to pick up the
division three player of the year award
- known as the Gagliardi trophy. The
Alma College quarterback from Michigan
is well balanced and mature beyond his
years.
