charged with killing a woman and
dumping her body behind a church more
than a year ago.

24-year-old Jason Ramon Jordan was
arrested yesterday for the murder of
Latrella Bates in July of 2005.
Bates was reported missing about
two weeks before her body was found
behind the Unity Presbyterian Church on
Franklin Turnpike.

shooting in northwest Roanoke.

City Police had been called to
Melrose Park for a disorder. There were
shots fired.
One officer approached two men
who he thought were involved.
Police say one man ran and the
other person fired shots at the
officer.
The officer was not hit but
police used a K-9 to catch 25 year-old
Antonio Dudley.
He's been charged with
obstruction of justice.
Police also charged 24 year-old
Robert Lewis with wreckless discharge
of a firearm for the initial incident
that brought police out.
18 year-old Tyrice West was
treated for a gunshot wound. No one's
been arrested for shooting him.

about three robbery charges.

cop killer William Morva.
Michael was given a new attorney
today after his previous lawyer got a
job as an assistant commonwealth's
attorney.
That means the case against him
will have to start from scratch.
He and his brother are accused of
trying to rob a bank and an A-T-M in
Montgomery County.
William Morva was in jail on
these charges when he allegedly escaped
and killed two officers.
Michael is also accused of
helping in that escape.

Hudgins was taken into custody this
week on four felony charges related to
his business practices.
He's charged with obtaining money
under false pretense, credit card
fraud, identity theft, and credit card
larceny.
The Botetourt County Sheriff's
Office initiated an investigation in
April, but decided his actions weren't
criminal.
This time the Commonwealth's
Attorney found the addition of the
credit card warranted charges being
filed.

but this year crime is actually down in
the Valley View Shopping area of
Roanoke. Here are the numbers.

Last year there were 532 calls for
thefts- that would be things like
packages stolen out of cars.
For the same period this year up
through yesterday the number is down by
almost 20 percent.. at 434.
The shoplifting calls were down as
well.. Last year there were more than
2-thousand 300 calls for shoplifting.
This year the number is at 19 hundred
48.

That's what 18 year old Terry
Epperly Junior told police after spray-
painting graffiti all over
Christiansburg High School.
He and two other teenagers
painted racial slurs, swastikas and
sexual images on the exterior walls of
the school in May.
Epperly pled "no contest" today
to four charges, including making a
bomb threat and felony destruction of
property.
19 year old Darren Mosier pleaded
guilty to the charges.
They will be sentenced in March.
A third suspect is due in court
next week.

smoke inhalation in her home Wednesday

She fell asleep and accidentally
left food cooking on the stove.

saying they plan to resume negotiations
on Monday.
The union represents some 15
thousand workers who have been on
strike since October fifth -- including
more than two thousand employees at the
Goodyear plant in Danville.
