We begin with breaking news out
of Roanoke County.

According to County
Police....authorities are looking for
62-year-old man who walked away from
his home on Crowell Crow-el Gap Road.

That's in the southern part of
County near the Franklin County line.

State police do have a helicopter
assisting.

Crews are also searching various
roads in the area.

The man was seen around four this
afternoon.

We do have a crew on the way.

trying to get to the bottom of an early
morning apartment fire.

Flames broke out at the Lantern
Ridge Apartments on Fairfax Road around
1:30 A-M.

For safety reasons police
evacuated the building, but the fire
was contained in a single apartment.

The damage is estimated to be at
about ten thousand dollars.

hospital after allegedly being shot by
a police officer.

Authorities say the officer tried
to pull over Eric Dion Mays last night
due to an ongoing drug investigation.

It's not clear what happened next
but police confirmed one of their own
drew his weapon and fired.


Mays was taken to Lynchburg
General Hospital and later transferred
to Roanoke Memorial.

Hospital officials are not
releasing his condition.

heartbreaking discovery.

Teams looking for three missing
climbers found a body after searching a
second snow cave near the summit of the
Oregon mountain.

Our climbers did get inside the snow
cave and have confirmed that there

is one fatality, we do not have the
identity of the individual at this

time.�



Earlier�there was great optimism when
helicopters spotted a snow cave

from the air. However, when ground
crews reached the cave about 300

feet below the summit, they found
climbing equipment but no climbers.

Crews kept searching and later found a
secondary cave in the same area.

We continue to proceed with this as a

rescue for the two remaining

climbers.�



There�s been no communication from
Kelly James, Brian Hall and Jerry

Cooke since December 10th��when James
used his cell phone to make a

distress call during a nasty storm.
The weather was so brutal�rescue

teams had to wait several days before
beginning their rescue efforts.



All three are experienced climbers�and
throughout the ordeal their

families remained hopeful searchers
would find the climbers. Now

despite the one fatality�search teams
say they still have a common focus

and remain optimistic they�ll find the
missing men alive.
