OQ=right the first time < (END SOT) CHRISTMAS DINNER - FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE

"we'll do a hundred, a hundred and
fifty thousand, just out of this
location....we do about 90% of our
annual biz in november and december, so
this is basically our whole year in
these two months" HONEYBAKED HAM RELIES
ON UPS TO GET THOSE HAMS TO ITS
CUSTOMERS - FROZEN AND ON TIME. "now
that's a nine pound half ham. And we do
ask that you receive it forty eight

hours before you want to serve it."
CLARK NELSON WORKS FOR UPS. HE SPENDS
THE WEEKS LEADING UP TO CHRISTMAS
ON-SITE AT HONEY BAKED, MAKING SURE
NOTHING GOES WRONG. BEFORE UPS EMBEDDED
HIM AT HONEYBAKED, THERE WERE PROBLEMS.
FOR INSTANCE, UPS WAS SENDING SMALL
BROWN TRUCKS FOR PICK-UP. HONEYBAKED
NEEDED TRAILERS, BIG, COLD ONES.
"Honeybaked has allowed us to tap into
their ordering system and that gives us
a live view of what their orders --
that are being processed right now --
so we can have a better idea of what
kind of volume we'll have at our ups
centers later that day" ANOTHER
PROBLEM: PACKAGING. HAMS FROZEN AT
THIRTY-BELOW TEND TO THAW A BIT IN
TRANSPORT. AND SHIPPING LABELS DON'T
STICK SO WELL TO SWEATY HAMS. SO UPS
DEVELOPED NEW FOAM PACKAGING -- AND
CUSTOM ADHESIVE LABELS. "thank you for
calling honeybaked, happy holidays"
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, ONLY IF HONEYBAKED AND
UPS BOTH DO THEIR JOBS RIGHT. "we can't
miss xmas dinner... we could have 4
million people eating from those
dinners where we've got to get it right
the first time." >>
