(END SOT) Low-fat diets may help prevent the
return of breast cancer in some women.
(vo)
Researchers say they don't know if the
benefit is due to weight loss, eating
more fruits and vegetables or something
else.. but they do say the benefit is
almost exclusive to women whose cancer
growth wasn't driven by hormones.
The study, published in the Journal of
the National Cancer Institute, involved
more than 24-hundred breast cancer
survivors.. some of whom reduced their
daily fat intake by roughly 40 percent
while the others stayed about the same
as when they started.
(wipevo)
A good way to cut down on those meal
time calories may be to cut out the
soda.
A new study found diners ate roughly
the same amount at each meal,
regardless of their beverage choice..
and the bigger the beverage, the more
they drank.
As a result, calorie counts jumped when
people chose to have large
sugar-sweetened drinks with their
meals.

Today Massachusetts will start putting
out report cards.. grading doctors on
how many of their patients survive
coronary bypass surgery.
New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania

The reports are designed to help
patients.
But some critics worry that the report
cards will discourage some surgeons
from taking on the riskiest cases.
