For the first time ever the
agency did drive-thru service.
More than 3-hundred families in
need got their clothes, toys and food
for the holidays by pulling up to the
church.
The line was so long yesterday
morning it stretched a half a mile down
Roanoke Street.

Many recipients told us they like
the new service because it got them on
their way faster.
The agency plans to do the
drive-thru again next Christmas.

Now here's a look at today's top local
stories.
VO-NAT VO-NAT
ENG#1 More than four months after the
school day was extended in Roanoke
City, administrators are calling it a
success. For example at Morningside
Elementary, teachers are using that
extra time for what is called Star
Time.
That involves putting students
into smaller groups at the end of the
day to give them extra help in passing
the S-O-L's.
VO-NAT VO-NAT
ENG#3 And, Franklin County could be on
the verge of constructing a large
outdoor water park - but first it has
to get the seal of approval from the
Board of Supervisors.
The area for the proposed site
sits along the Pigg River.
