seven o'clock of shots being fired near
the intersection of 14th and Patterson
Avenue.

When they got there, they found
the body of a male.

No identity has been released.

The area around the crime scene
was blocked off while police

present many striking workers have
wanted.. News tonight the strike at
Goodyear may soon be over.

The Associated Press reports
the company and the United Steelworkers
Union have reached a tentative contract
agreement.

would end a two-month strike that
involves about 12-thousand workers
nationwide, and more than two-thousand
workers in Danville.

The union says the contract
offer requires Goodyear to drop plans
to close the plant in Tyler, Texas, in

buyout.

agreement with its union, many are
watching to see what happens with
Meadwestcvaco and its union workers.

voted to approve or reject the latest
contract from MeadWestvaco.

Just in case of a strike...union
representatives spent the day strolling
around the perimeter of the mill with
local and state police.

Now, If workers approve the
contract, everything goes back to
normal.

If workers reject the contract,
the company could bring up negotiations
again.

If the company says this is it,
we're done talking, then a strike could
happen.

after an explosion and fire at his home
this afternoon.

It happened on Timber Ridge Road
in a rural area north of Fincastle
around one o'clock.

Investigators believe the victim
is 67-year-old Leonard Gill, who lived
in the home with his wife Ann.

The cause remains under
investigation.

Authorities say the victim's wife
attempted to rescue him, but was driven
from the home by the heavy smoke.

Ann Gill was away from home when
the fire started and returned to find
the house in flames.

She told an investigator she
entered the home to search for her
husband and stumbled over someone on
the floor but was unable to move the
person.

Duke University lacrosse players have
been dropped.

The D-A says the state could not
meet its burden of proof.

Court papers filed today say the
accuser told a prosecution investigator
yesterday that she could not recall if
penetration occurred.

The case stems from a March 14th
lacrosse team party during which an
exotic dancer, hired to perform there,
says the players raped her.

But the three players aren't off
the hook just yet....Prosecutors are
still charging the three with
kidnapping and sexual offense. The
latter charge carries the same penalty
as rape.

multiple charges of child abuse.

California rescued a woman who was
hurled from her car into a river after
a car accident.

The woman was ejected and thrown
50 feet to the river bank.
