Bad weather usually makes for airport
backups.. but mix in the holiday
crowds.. and the snarls turn into a big
tangle.

(Victoria Cherwon/AIRLINE PASSENGER)

20:42:38 I'm told the earliest I can
get to Denver is Tuesday next week.

More than two feet of snow prompted the
cancellation of more than two-thousand
flights at Denver International.

SOT we got one blanket and one pillow

from the airline and we laid on the
floor.

Those roughing it in the terminal now
have a chance to get out.. with
officials hoping to reopen by midday..
but the two-day shutdown of the nation
s fifth busiest airport has already
rippled across the country.

SOT 21:56:45 at this point my

expectations are lowered I just want to
get to Denver by Christmas

Denver snow wasn t helping the
situation at Chicago s O Hare.. but
neither was the fog.. which is also the
problem for International travelers
trying to get in and out of London.

BRIDGE: Here at Reagan National airport
officials are offering traveler s
familiar advice.. show up early..
because if you miss your flight between
now and Christmas you be able to find a
seat on another.

Some of those driving to their holiday
destinations are also running into
roadblocks.

SOT 00:41:20 135 south- its all closed

The blizzard that blanketed the west
shut down parts of I-70 and I-25.. and
at least two traffic related deaths
have been blamed on the storm.

If the roads reopen Laura Dehmlow s
plan is to leave Reagan on a flight for
Kansas city.. then take a 10-hour bus
ride to Denver.

(Laura Dehmlow/AIRLINE PASSENGER)

20:35:18 Yes, but its worth it, it's
Christmas!"

A white Christmas that will be welcome
for some, just a big hassle for others.

An accident south of Richmond could
have easily been a movie scene.

Police say a Maryland woman lost
control of her vehicle, and became
wedged under a tractor trailer--
dragged for about half a mile.

But no one was injured.

About a dozen suspected drug dealers
are off the streets in Bedford City and

Across the country yesterday,
people remembered homeless and formerly
homeless people who've died in the past
year.

In the Roanoke Valley, dozens
gathered at Coyner Springs Cemetery.

No homeless persons in the
Valley died on the streets this year,
though several died shortly after
finding shelter.

Based on 2004 statistics, about
15 percent of the City of Roanoke lives
in poverty. The Roanoke Regional Task
Force on Homelessness says many are
just one paycheck away from becoming
homeless.
