The town removed all of parking
meters in an effort to attract more
shoppers into the area.
It's all part of the ongoing
downtown revitalization project.
Folks who work at businesses
along Main Street say no meters is a

And they only brought in about
three thousand dollars a year for the
town... Christiansburg will try to sell
the old parking meters to other local
governments that might be interested.

dollars, from the National Institutes
of Health.
The money will boost the research
and training of graduate students.

that Saddam Hussin's death sentence
must be carried out sometime in the
next 30 days.

hanging for his role in the Shiite
massacre.
His attorneys appealed and
officials began reviewing the case
earlier this month.
The chief judge says, starting

have to be ratified by the president
and two vice presidents, but a court
spokesman says Iraq's judicial system
will find a way to execute Saddam.

week, but the Martinsville Bulldogs
were on the court tonight in the Arby's
Classic in Bristol, Tennessee. The
defending state champs faced former
Salem Coach Charlie Morgan and Dobyns
Bennett, beating the Indians 76 to 67.

In the college ranks, the ACC
handed out its weekly awards today and
Tech's Jamon Gordon grabbed Player of
the Week honors.

eight rebounds in a pair of wins for
the Hokies.
The 6-3 guard also totaled 10
assists and 8 steals in the two games,
wins over Seton Hall and Campbell.

season when the Seminoles face UCLA
tomorrow night in the Emerald Bowl in
San Francisco.
It's FSU's first ever meeting
with the Bruins and the first time the
school has ever played in Northern
California.

changed since Bobby Bowden's very first
bowl game.
