A crook goes into the store and
writes down the indentification number

on the back of the card.

Days later, thinking the card has
been activitated, the scammer goes to

number spends the gift card over the
internet.

So when you then go to use it in the
store or online, your card is wiped
out.

vehicles in Halifax County is paying
off in arrests.

The county sheriff's office put a
special strike force together and over
the past week has netted nearly a dozen
suspects.

Investigators say the six adults
and five juveniles are charged with
various crimes, including breaking and
entering, drug possession and grand
larceny.

Officers from the South Boston
Police Department and the Department of
Game and Inland Fisheries helped in the
investigation.

grants, totaling almost a million
dollars, from the National Institutes
of Health.

The money will boost the research
and training of graduate students.

Experts say the U-S needs more
