for the United Steelworkers local in
Danville says 68 percent voted to
ratify the contract.

Unions in Nebraska and Tennessee
voted yesterday to approve the
contract.

United Steelworkers say a final
result won't be available until
tomorrow.

If the contract is accepted, it
could mean the shutting down of a plant
in Texas and a one billion dollar
health care fund for retirees.

additional charges.

This morning, 49-year-old David

Allan King plead guilty to charges of
racketeering and drug conspiracy.

King, along with Sheriff Frank
Cassell and nearly a dozen deputies are
accused of taking part in an alledged
conspiracy that put seized drugs and
guns back into the community.

Also in court this morning,
33-year-old James Alden Vaught- the man
who helped feds record undercover
conversations with suspects in this
case.

He plead guilty to a charge of
racketeering.

teacher is breathing a sigh of relief
tonight.

VO-NAT A judge today found Jeffrey

Hodges not guilty of sexual or physical
assault against two inmates at the
Roanoke County jail.

The inmates alleged the incidents
happened while Hodges was tutoring them
one- on- one for the G-E-D.

One inmate told the judge Hodges
rubbed his leg before grabbing his
penis during a math session.

The defense poked holes in their
testimony using recorded phone
conversations made shortly after the
alleged incidents- in which no mention
of the assaults were made.

Apollo Theater in Harlem today to pay
tribute to music icon James Brown.

late singer's casket through the
streets of Harlem for fans to say their
last goodbyes.

His body was then brought to the
famous Apollo Theater...where his
career began in the 60's.

ceremony.

Afterwards, Brown's good friend,
the Reverend Al Sharpton will officiate
a funeral service at the James Brown

animals safe to eat.

indistinguishable from conventionally
bred animals and safe for us to eat.

And they don't believe special
labels will be needed...although the
decision is still pending.

However, consumer groups say
labels are a must....some surveys show

of cloned livestock.

The public will get 90 days to
comment on the decision....then the
F-D-A will make a final approval.

With a turnout of about 800
participants, they say the holiday
career fair was a success.

city is getting ready to build its
first new school in more than fifty
years.

month to replace Belle Heth (heath)
Elementary.

The 16 million dollar project
will be built on land right next to the
current school.

The building will host grades
three through six by the 2008 school
year and the project will even allow

designing the project next month.

of student art.

six inch ceramic tile...which now makes
up this 17 foot tall mural.

artwork...a pavilion had to be
constructed to protect it.

The County Board of Supervisors
and Appalachian Power covered the 20
