deputy implicated in a federal
racketeering and drug investigation was
in court this morning.

testimony, a south salem elementary
school teacher was found not guilty of
sexually assulting an inmate at the
Roanoke County Jail.
Fifty-One year old Jeffrey Hodges
had been charged of assulting several
inmates while teaching them G-E-D
prepratory classes in october.
The judge made this decision
immediately after hearing the evidence.
Tears of relief flew from Hodge's
eyes.

the escape of Oops.

Back in July, the Japanese snow
monkey opened an unlocked cage at Mill
Mountain Zoo and let herself out.
Oops' escape got plenty of
attention here locally and all around
the world.
In fact, the story was even
featured on C-N-N and the B-B-C.
But after a week on the lam, the
twenty pound monkey was captured and
returned to the zoo.

Zoo staff tranquilized the monkey
after cornering her in a tree.

The exhibition features scenes from
Japan, as well as northern landscapes
and penguins.
It's located in a hall cooled to
eight below .
The exhibit will be on display until
the end of February, when the coolers
are switched off, and the will ice drop
into the sea.
